Hi all,

we're looking for a new home for my girlfriends brown-brindle lurcher bitch Honey. Shes a 5 years old, lightly built dog, spayed, good markings and very quick, she placed in a couple of country shows in the South. Breeding is ((greyhoundxwolfhound) x deerhound) x ((deerhoundxsaluki) x(greyhoundxwheaten terrier))

and she stands 26", smooth-coated.

We dont really want to part with her, but unfortunatley although shes usually a good natured girl she seems unsettled by our recent move, has lost weight and is agitating the other dogs we have.

I'm not one to pass on a problem, like I say she's always been good natured and biddable, but I think Honey needs individual attention which we just arent able to give her at the moment, the fault lies with us. We are desperately searching for a kind loving home for this dog, we dont want her in a shelter or the pound. She was never hunted though she had a couple of trips to the field with her hunting mother and brother and showed interest and ability, mostly she was just a pet, great on the lead and good recall when off. She has been raised from a pup with our kids and I have total trust in her, she is also stockbroken to sheep/cattle/horses/chickens/ferrets - never to cat though.

We would like to place her with a family if possible and would be happy for someone to take her on a trial basis - if it wasnt working out at any time we would take her back.

If anyone would like any more information or a picture please send me a message here or an email, please put HONEY in the subject bar.

Thanks

although I would say discuss it with an animal behaviourist, try to find a solution first -- there are several lurcher events coming up in Northern Ireland and you might find a suitable new home through these events. Don't hand the hound over at the show, but people could meet her and talk about her. You will find listings in the lurcher section of the forum. The game fair at Ballywalter is coming up shortly, 30 Apr - 1 May.

Has Honey found her new home yet please?
