Hi all, due to the lack of interest in bend racing :'( , the Honeyhills members have decided to change our second open to a 200yard scratch open in 2lb weight groups 16lb, 18lb etc. I know it's early to report this but I know some people like to plan in advance the opens you are going to attend.

    Dave :(

Do we REALLY need another straight open.....the clubs are really struggling with so many opens this year!

It seems a waste with such a good bend not to use it

I'm Intrigued by the "lack of interest comment" most of the people I've spoke to were going to the open because it was a bend.

Well on a positive note - it does mean that we can join you now :D

No bend runners and as you know Cam was injured for the first one, but hopefully we will all be able to come this time

I can understand the disappointment from the people with bend dogs, & I know you love bend racing yourself Dave, but know of a lot more people who are likely to join you now.

Can you remind me when the date is again?

Its not the disappointment from the people with bend dogs that concerns me Darcia but look at the bigger picture and the whole future of bend racing

I question whether a lot more people will support the open now, I know a lot that wont.

At the first Honeyhills open this year the entry was low and some people that had entered chose to attend an Andover club meeting the same day instead!

Should be a bit of give and take in this sport take the good with the bad Straight and bends . I'm just happy for my dogs to run and enjoy there day win or lose . If you don't won't to run your dog on bends that's you're choice, but don't stop others from there enjoyment .

So you got no interest that's down to your club and yourself but there are others that do.

That's great news that its now going to be a straight. See you there. Straight opens will always attract more entries.

I agree with Darcia, felling sorry for those who love their bend racing, but simple economics tend to prevail. You either run at a loss with low entries or you switch to a straight and attract more entries. Sad but true.

I missed Honeyhills first open ( an entry oversight) but will definitely book for the second. I don't run bends any more, as nearly all my dogs injuries have been picked up at bend meetings. Maybe just bad luck, but it is a choice I have made not to run them.

It will be sad if people boycott the meeting just because the club need to avoid losing money.

It may or may not be better financial, but is it good for the sport. If you put to those that like bend racing and asked if they may be papered to pay a bit more to run that would cover that financial Shortfall. And keep this as a bend open.

Honeyhills entry was over 80 entries, Garry. These days that is a very good entry! :)

Wow didn't realise this would cause such a stir. Thank you to all those supporting bend racing and to all those who have promised to support our straight, if it goes ahead. Honeyhills will be having a meeting Sunday and who knows what will happen then .

I don't know how to get a post stopped, but if the person who runs the dog forum could stop this post I would be grateful.
