Would you please note that the 'Bend Open' scheduled to take place on Sunday 25th September has been postponed.
The reason for the postponement is that the low number of entries received by the closing date (today) suggested that the event if it were to take place would not be viable for either the Club or for Racing generally. It is suspected that the low number of entries possibly reflected concern that 'Vets' had been omitted, maybe the current loss of enthusiasm for bend racing, and perhaps a time of the year fatigue with Opens and Champs.
Clearly the Club in its planning made a mistake and apologies are offered. The Club in wanting to stage a Bend event sought to preserve tradition, and the omission of Vets was for solely practical reasons.
Once authority has been obtained, a date settled, and the issue of points established Honeyhills intends to run an 'End of the Season Open' -hopefully on either the 23rd or 30th October. The format will then be a 175 Yard Straight, a 150 Yard Maiden and a 150 Yard 'Vets'.
More details will follow and meanwhile I will refund cheques to all entrants. Once again the Club wants to apolgise to everybody for causing disappointment and inconvenience.
