IMPORTANT NOTICE
Yesterday the members , with reluctance concluded, that the Club would not now be able to host the 'Straight Open' scheduled for the 23rd September.
The Open has therefore been cancelled.
Members felt that it was only fair for potential entrants to be given sufficient notice of this cancellation, so that they could make alternative arrangements - there is of course a Charity event scheduled to take place at Oxford on this particular Sunday.
The reasons for the cancellation are straightforward, and concern the recent failure of equipment and the condition of the field. Whilst the track is near perfect, the outfield has been ravaged by the wet weather. Members took the position that it would be unreasonable to invite people to attend from across the country, if it could not be guaranteed that the equipment would run perfectly, and if the field was not in a sufficiently good condition.
