we had a great day the weather was bloody hot i was sweating so it must have been hot. got home took a couple of the dogs out and got soaked in a thunderstorm got back and it stopped lol wot time 4 dog fancy dress tommoro dee? might dress one of mine up.

what a bad turnout for a classic event.makes you wonder why you bother, what lacked in numbers didnt lack in quality. well done to all the winners, track was in tip top condition as usuall.cafe was good too as was the weather. see you all tomorrow.

forgot to ask what time do things start tomorrow.

very poor turnout for a classic event well done to everyone that bothered to support this event,if this is the future of open whippet racing iam pleased penny is my last dog.

poor turn out again as was last 3 events in the north but still some good racing for those that suported this event ,see u all tomorrow and good luck :luck:

Kick off 1 oclock

Have to agree the last few N/E opens have been affected with poor turn outs...(lets hope we all don't take the same approach when we have to travel) think the main reason is the cost in fuel

I agree with you Dee, the cost of fuel is making everyone think twice before they jump in their car/van to travel to an open. If you have to travel any great distance I think people will start to pick which events they go to, to see which is the least expensive.

It's such a shame because I think we are beggining to see the effects of rising costs is having on our sport.

Perhaps at the end of this year a lot more thought needs to be looked into as to how many opens are put on at each end of the country. Also perhaps the two main RACING BODIES can look into cutting back on their events.

The only good thing to come out of these price rises is that clubs are getting more support from their members, and that can't be a bad thing, your local club is the backbone of whippet racing.

Good luck to everyone racing tomorrow

regards

Doreen

well done everyone today  and good luck all those running again 2mrw :luck:

wish we could have been there

well done all you runners today, took some photos but i will add them tomorrow as I'm off on the lash with the people that bothered to turn up.see you other faithfuls tomorrow  i must say again track in tip top condition

YOU ARE SO RIGHT DOREEN! THE COST OF FUEL IS KILLING THE "OPEN SEASON", COS, WHEN FACED WITH THE CHOICE, FOLKS HAVE TO PUT FOOD ON THE TABLE FIRST! LIKE YOU SAID, THE ONE GOOD THING IS THAT CLUBS ARE BEING SUPPORTED BY THEIR MEMBERS. LET'S FACE IT, WITHOUT THE CLUBS, THERE ARE NO OPEN-CLASS DOGS!

i agree clubs need our suport but so do opens or whats the point. id be glad if we cut back save me a fortune as you know doreen its a thankless task but lets just make the most of what weve got good luck to every racer :luck:

what time is the dog fancy dress and easter bonnet parade ?

say 1 oclock that way gives the footballer plenty time to get the match over

so the fun things will b about 1pm? then will racing be straight after prob about 1.30pm???? regardless of how many turned up it was still a very good day (Imo anyway) 44 is not that bad. there may b some dogs injured/in season people cud b on holiday it is 2 long weekends in a row. theres many reasons and u cant force people 2 attend opens. im just glad that theres still opens on as i love a day out @ an open myself.

well done to all the winners it was short and sweet home for 1 30

Well done to all winners and workers on and off track love to been there but going away next weekend only so much money in pot but as long as every body enjoy it that's main thing
