Hi everyone, I thought that I should ask you all a question regarding my situation.
HISTORY
I have a six month old male cock-a-poo. I purchased him from a reputable breeder on December 22, 2007. I immediately took him outside as soon as I got home so he would get to know the backyard. He didn't do anything outside, which was to be expected.... My mom and I went to our local petstore and we got into an argument over which methods to housebreak him on. I said crate train him, she said puppy pads. My mother won out. Her reasoning was that my father was always home and would take him outside. I told her that it would promote bad behavior in the long run because he, his name is Murphy BTW, wouldn't know when it would be okay to go in the house or outside.
PRESENT
Okay Murphy has now been neutered for about a month now and is still going in the house. He does go outside as well but like to collect leaves and pinecones instead of urinating. Anymore, Murphy will actually walk on the puppy pads, sniff them, turn around and do his business on the carpet not the pads. My parents are fed up with this problem because my other dog is an 11 year old female and never does anything inside.
QUESTION
Is their still hope for little Murphy, what other methods should I try out????
