one of my dogs is a rescued whippet and he is definitely a purebred whippet but I don't have his papers

can he be raced as a pedigreed whippet and if so how would he be certified to be "pedigreed"?

so does he race as a non-pedigree or a pedigree whippet? Looking at the non-pedigreed messages it seems that some of the dogs are what I would call small lurchers, some of them weigh ~40 lbs (my whippet weighs about 25 pounds and is less than 20" at the shoulders), and some are known to be at least a quarter greyhound (the crossbreeding is deliberate)

Hi Macha,

Unless you've got the KC paper your dog would not be able to race as a pedigree at Pedigree club affiliated to the WCRA (Whippet Club Racing Association) but a lot of the non ped clubs are now ruunning races for peds these includ obvious peds but that dont have the paper work such as yours if you contact Vicky who's a moderator in the non ped section she will be able to point you in the right direction.

I took him to nonpedigreed event and he was too slow

yet they say he is good for a pedigreed

what would you say is a good speed for a 10 month old pedigreed at 150 yards?

also, if I do get the papers -- I know who bred my dog -- are there any pedigree events (next year) similar to the one I went to, the Scottish Derby where there were 5 races over 9 days, opportunities to school and trial dogs on the non-race days, and a campsite to stay at?

thanks for info
