Hi, Molly (18 months) finished her 2nd season over a week ago, yesterday I took both girls out and met up with a friend who has Snoops (1 year) and Tiggs (9 months) Snoops has always tried it on with Molly and tried to mount her normally Molly growls at him and he leaves her alone for a while. Yesterday however Snoops was totally obsessed with Molly and was mounting her and having a good old hump. Molly would growl at him, show her teeth etc but he didnt seem to get the message at all, Molly is such a sweetie and she was getting well annoyed with Snoops. When we stopped for lunch he whined the whole time because he wanted to get to her, at one time poor Molly stopped to go for a poo only to leapt on by Snoops. Tiggs the younger dog also thought this was a fun game and got tried the mounting too! Snoops then had to go on the lead for the rest of the walk, whining all the time!

The main problem is I am house/dog sitting for my friend for 3 weeks starting on Thursday and dont really want to spend my 3 weeks having to fend Snoops off Molly, anyone got any suggestions please

You have really landed yourself in it! :sweating:

As you will not want to let your friend down, the only thing I can suggest short of a cage / seperate rooms and leads (which you will probably have to resort to especially at night ) is a couple of waterpistols. I have used this method effectively to stop kitchen worktop theives. Harsher but still more effective is grabbing him by the scruff of the neck, giving a gentle but firm shake and saying NO or LEAVE. He might learn eventually that you are the dominant one and his behaviour is not acceptable in the pack. He is still a pup and should not be allowed to behave in such an anti social way with any other dog. Poor Molly sounds like she is in for 3 weks of hell :x

Is there someone who could look after Molly for a few hours a day to give you both a break.

I would expect the rampant boys to get the message if Molly isn't a novelty to him...tell him off sternly a few times and he will get bored...it was a novelty today, and she will be a little further away from her season by then...Bath her a few days before you go off house sitting in a strong smelling shampoo...jcd insectacidal or tea tree are good...

Good Luck Gaynor x

Some dogs do this when they are over-excited/playful, it's not necessarily a dominant or even a sexual behaviour.

I've had fosters come here and try to hump everything in sight for the first day or so, but if you keep gently but firmly stopping them and tell them 'no' they get the message and it settles down pretty quickly.

Good luck, I hope it's not going to be too much of a nightmare :luck:
