The I.R.G are holding an open at old hall wrc on sun 21/4/02.

For all interested,it's 2 ft per pound(front dog), all in weight classes also puppy racing,36,40 and no limit, weigh in till 12pm also consolation racing for non heat winners at no extra cost :D

If you want a good day racing, go down and support john and the helpers.

Is John Meades paying you commission Michelle?

If only!!!!!

I have attended an I.R.G open and it really is a good day out!!

I would recommend it...and if you don't enjoy yourself, tell john why..he is open to all suggestions/idea's

ps.....I'm also hoping I will win the raffle again :D   :p

hiya michelle debbie here yes we will be attending taking two pups& wonderwall see you there   ;)

hi i really enjoyed the last irg meeting, and would recomend

it to anyone, john is doing a good job,so dont knock it until

you have tryed it.

nice try vicky, but you all know that only the racers get money from the I.R.G. and no other payments for anyone, not even a free copy of the mag unlike some people, if you live in a glass house dont throw stones

No one's knocking I.R.G what i wrote was meant as a joke to Michelle!!

While I cannot comment on I.R.G opens as I have not been to one yet some racers dont know how lucky they are.  At the moment most opens seem to be around middle England.  So at least people in that area get a chance to participate and experance a I.R.G open.  Whilst I am not trying to knock anyone who brings new ideas and formats into the sport I am worried that the north may not get the chance to attend a open.

John M

I think you`re being a bit paranoid here - it`s not always a case of people being on one side or another. If you make it a case of belonging to either the IRG or bwra/nwrf then you will limit racing  opportunities for many people. Not everyone has allegiences to either side - yet - don`t force people to make a choice. I feel the IRG philosiphy is sound and the race meetings are well run and well worth attending and the bwra/nwrf are far from perfect and some reform would benefit whippet racing and the whippet news editorial stance is mistaken but I also think that the the bwra and the whippet news imperfectly do what they feel is best for their sport.

If you want to win freinds and influence people carry on running the good opens you run - racers will turn up and run because it`s a good day out and will recognise the failings of our other racing organisiations. Those that try to set a political agenda as part of belonging to a particular body - as the bwra to a small part and the the nwrf to a larger part seem to be doing will ultimatly lose the support of those that simply wish to race on a level playing field.

I have removed this post when I realised that Tonys post was aimed at the other John.

:)

Anyone is welcome to run at an I.R.G. meeting, you dont have to belong to any group or be of any political side of any group, just bring your dog or dogs and have a good day out. I understand that the people of the far north and south may feel left out of the races, but until this group is firmly in place it would be wrong of me to promise you a meeting and not be able to deliver. Like the majority of whippet racers i just want to race and have a pleasant day, the I.R.G. belongs to the racers, a majority decides what you want it to be, If you do not say what you would like, how can I accommadate what you require, there is no favouritism in the I.R.G., everyone is and will be treated the same.

well done michelle, seems like there is still non ped

racers on this site, you seem to have woken a few

up,im not in favour of any i.r.g. nwrf or bwra i was

saying that i.r.g is a good thing as you get the chance

for two run's if you wish, and trial your pup's which cant be a bad thing.   ;)

Michelle did get the non ped racers out of their shells, it's just a pity the forum had to be blown up into something that it wasn't intended to be - Michelle started by trying to drum up interest in the I.R.G (hence my original post) and it ended up getting to the point where it made me not want to race under them.  As far as i can see be it BWRA / NWRF / I.R.G / Club racing, if it's whippet racing you love then you'll turn up on the day and put up with the organisation's little faults, and most people (with a bit of common sense) won't take sides.

Anyway John now knows that what i said wasn't meant as a go at him or his organisation, and yes i will be turning up tomorrow to support it.

Well i'm glad everything is aired :D , I'm looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow, win, lose or draw it should be a good day :p

Just think, if I had been selected for ITV's survivor i would'nt be plugging this open :D

Ps....yes, I really did apply for survivor, but looking back due to my drinking habits, liking of bath's, sea sickness and whippet racing I'm glad I was'nt selected :p   :D   :p

see you all tomorrow

Firstly i agree with Neil and as everything seems to have gone quiet and there does not seem to be much in the way of topics it is good to have opinions aired in the light hearted way they are on here it also is and has been used a great deal to obtain information on breeding and other issuses relating to whippet racing i also think you need a sence of humour when reading most of what is written and treat it in the way it is intended to be treat by the writer!!!!!!you can have fun and a laugh with someone and not at someone on here :p   :p   :p   :p   :p   :p   :p   :p  ???  ???  ???  ???

debbie here, i just want to say that the meeting yesturday at oldhall irg was great, not one person fell out the atmosphere was good and a good days racing was had by all.   :D
