Hi,
On New Years day the server running K9 failed which required the site to be rebuilt from backups. The hosting company make daily backups of the whole server and are responsible for restoring the site. However, as on a previous occasion, their backup system failed & we were left without a complete backup. Following the previous failure the hosting company made changes to their backup routines and assured me 100% that it would not fail again - don't believe everything you read...
Because of the size of the information on K9 it's almost impossible for me to maintain a complete backup of the whole site (unfortunately I do not have a broadband connection). I do take irregular copies of the main database & that is what I have had to use to to restore K9 - what does this mean to you?
1) Anything posted since December 17 is missing
2) Anyone who has registered since December 17 will need to re-register
3) Any changes you have made to your Control Panel, Calendar entries, passwords etc since December 17 will need to done again
4) Any personal Avatars uploaded to K9 are missing & will need to be reloaded
5) Any uploaded files are missing - in particular this applies to pictures
6) PM messages since December 17 are missing
I can only apologise for these problems and try my best to continue to supplement the backups made by the host so that any future problems are minimised.
If you require any assistance in restoring your settings or have any problems please email me nigel@k9community.co.uk
If anyone has a picture/photograph that belongs in an existing post I should be able to replace it. Email me the picture and tell me where it belongs & I'll try inserting it.
