I had Inca to the vet yesterday because she was limping, it turned out she had sprained her right wrist and was put on anti-inflamatories and gentle lead walking.

Today she some how managed to tear a 20p size piece of fur and flesh from the same wrist, whislt having a wee in the garden.

Luckily she just managed to miss the tendons, the vet doesn't think she needs stitching but we'll find out on Tuesday when we go back for a chck up.

So she's back on antibiotics and complete rest.

Here she is all bandaged up and looking very sorry for herself.

awwwww, she looks so sorry for herself! :huggles:

I changed Inca's bandage last night making sure it was loose (it was looser than the bandage in the pic on here).

And this morning when we got up was very swollen, so I took it off straight away.

The wound is still very wet so I cleaned it up and re-applied the bandage but even looser...its on but only just.

The vet has got an emergency open surgery tonight 5-5.30pm so I'm taking her to that BUT does anyone know why its so swollen????

I have had dogs legs bandaged very recently so here goes! When the vet bandages the leg, first of all you have to put cotton wool between the toes. This is to stop between the toes from becoming sore. Then you apply the gel to the wound and put non sticky pads on to it, then wrap THE WHOLE OF THE FOOT and to up above the joint with stretch bandage. Then apply the vet wrap. The foot is swollen because it has been left out of the bandage and the circulation is compromised hence the need to encase the whole of the foot within the bandage. :luck:

I took Inca to the vet last night and thats what the vet said but she said she doesn't need to have the paw and leg bandaged only the leg.

She said it will be ok to leave the paw as it is??

I'm taking her back tomorrow to see hows she's heeling.
