Hi, about 6 months ago we got our second rescue greyhound, she is only about a year old and the day we went to see her and brought her home she had just been speyed.

unfortunately she wets when she is asleep - it doesn't happen every day and she can go a few weeks without an accident but when it does happen it is when she is asleep (and usually on my sofa)

Does this sound like a familiar problem to anyone? she is a tiny greyhound and the greyhound rescue centre we got her from think she may be crossed with whippet.

Have you spoken to your vet about this? Spay incontinence a such a young age is rare but it can happen. Fortunately it can usually be controlled very effectively by Propalin drops.

Yep as above answer, I used to have a dog with the same problem but was controlled by a tablet from the vets :thumbsup:

Two likely causes are a urinary tract infection (UTI) or spay (hormonal) incontinence.

Your vet can test for both and provide a remedy.

Thank you for the replies, I took her to the vets a week ago and she was prescribed INCURIN tablets but unfortunately these are not working, I have made her another appt to see if there is an alternative.

Sorry this hasn't worked for her, but it;s definitely worth taking her back to the vet. I've known dogs where Incurin didn't work but Propalin did the trick and vice versa, so it may just be a matter of finding the right treatment for her.

There are some herbal products around that may help with this too, and which can safely be taken alongside other medication. CSJ do a product called 'Hold It' which may be worth a try. They are very helpful if you call them for advice.
