what are your thoughts on the independant racing group, does anyone think it will be a success.

I don't know but I hope it will be. It would be great to go to an open and you are guaranteed more than 1 run especially if you have travelled a few hours, Also they seem really keen on promoting whippet racing, we could do with more new blood in the sport.

I spoke to john meades at kinsley and he has told me he will come onto k9 in the new year and promote the independant wrc, good luck to them in the future.

I agree with Michelle it is good that you can travel a few hours and are guaranteed more than one run.  I don't really know much else about the organisation but it seems to be a really good idea from what i have heard.  It would be nice to know a bit more of what the group is about i'm surprised nothing has been printed in whippet news, but i also heard there was a bit of bother about advertising with them??

If anyone has any more info it would be appreciated by the racers who haven't been to an independant open.

not sure if i should be doing ths but here is a page from the leaflets given out on boxing day at blidworth.

drug testing.  this will take place at no extra cost to the racers as one of my sponsors will pay for this service.(it should be noted that a failure of a full screen test will result in a lifetime ban from this racing group)

aims of the group.     my aim of this racing group is for everone and there dogs to enjoy and have a pleasant days racing and to try and promote the sport to the young and the uninitiated.

membership.    any person is allowed to be a member of this group but  it should be said that anyone considered not fit to join by the majority of the existing members will not be allowed to do so.

rules.   there are only two hard and fast rules.

1/ use your common sense

2/see rule one

disputes.    a body of five long experienced whippet races will be the judge and jury of any disputes and their decision is binding,(will not be a part  of this body)

disputes on race days.    these will be handled by the days clerk of the course.

equipment.     one set of digital scales.

                     two video cameras

                     one viewing screen

three lures (two electric one manual)

                     one set of traps.

                     one generator(portable)

.

Does this mean a lifetime ban for theobromine? The Bwra and Fed`s drugs policy is madness but this sounds even worse - if that`s possible.
