Unfortunately, after visiting trhe field today the committee has made the decision to postpone our Summertime Open on 8th. July due to the ground conditions :( . After all the rain we have had over the last few weeks the field is saturated, and there are even pools of water on the track.

It was clear to us that without at least five or more days of dry weather there was no way we could have any number of vehicles, let alone caravans and campers on the field and hope to get everyone on and off safely.

The local weather forecast shows more rain due for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and although originally we had said we would make a decision around Wednesday, with no dry weather forecast it seemed better to inform everyone now. Possibly Sunday will be gloriously sunny but it's a chance we have to take and with little chance of the field being able to dry out in time we feel it is just not possible to proceed.

Sorry to all those who entered, (we had 137 entries - thank you all! ) I will return your cheques over the coming week.

We are hoping to reschedule the Open for sometime in October.

:( :( :(

what a shame, i was all geared up for the maiden voyage with my caravan

(i bet we still get a hose pipe ban   :- " )

Gutted! We haven't been any-where since the champs and I was looking forward to this. Never mind, not a lot can be done about the weather. Shame for all including the organisers.

Very sensible  ........It would be a nightmare with all of the stuck vehicles and dodgy for the dogs ........We are lure coursing on Sunday :b ......So at least now we'll be able to do the rescheduled Indi open :D .......May even do some line judging for you (w00t)

We'll take you up on the line-judging Hannah!!

What a shame :( but with the weather the way that it is I'm not surprised.

The rain is a nuisance. When you reschedule in October it'll be better for all. :luck:

The weather in Worcester can be glorious in October

Just a thought - rather than return cheques, it might be better to make a few phone calls, or emails, as people might want you to keep the entry for the new date. I'm assuming you will know soon when the new date will be. Just thought it might save a bit on postage.

Yes, I expect most people wouldn't mind if you just hung onto them. It saves the bother of re-entering and the cost to you of returning them. On the other hand I can see that administratively speaking, it might be easier to start with a clean sheet.

Quite a few people have said to destroy their cheques, and others would prefer them returned. I think it would be easier to start from scratch next October as peoples entries can sometimes vary and with some kept and some returned it's just too much of an administrative headache! :sweating:

I was on the phone for over four hours to people last night, as over sixty people entered their dogs and not all of those are on the internet so didn't know it had been postponed. A lot of the those I called said to tear up their cheques, but people have every right to have them returned if they so wish so of course I have to offer.

If I haven't contacted you yet I will try to do so and will follow peoples wishes as far as their cheques go, but if I haven't managed to get through to everyone over the next day or two and haven't heard from them, then I will have to assume they would like their cheques returned,

Many thanks to all those I have spoken to already who have agreed to us destroying their cheques, and also those who have volunteered to pass the information on to others who might not know. You make life a lot easier!
