Rafferty has been prone to these & has had about 6 up to now. They have been on different feet but usually burst within a day or so & then dry up & are gone.

This one appeared last weekend, I noticed him limping slightly last Sunday & found a little lump between his middle toes on his left fore foot :(

By Monday it was much bigger & I reckoned by Tues it would have burst like they usually do. But no, it just got bigger & even divided into 2 seperate cysts. It looked very inflamed & even with a bit of prodding :- " it still showed no sign of popping. His foot & wrist were quite hot to the touch too.

So off to the vets on Wed, it's been cleaned up, bandaged for a couple of days to stop him licking it, & he's on a.b's & anti inflammatories for a week.

I took the dressing off after 2 days as instructed & it looked awful, black sticky pus :x has come out & it hadn't gone down at all

If it isn't any better when he's finished the course of tablets then he will have to be sedated while it's flushed out properly :(

It doesn't seem to hurt him & he only bothers with it if I bring his attention to it. When we've been out I bathe it in salt water & dry it well but it's not looking any better at all.

Fingers XXX he doesn't need to go back to the vets but I'm not too hopefull.

I've been putting Aloe Vera gel on it. Is Alum something different Kris? Where would I get it? Healthfood shop maybe?

no i doubt a healthfood shop would sell it i used to get it from the chemists.its a white grainy powder, mix it with water and stand the foot in a bowl of it.i used to use this for interdigital cysts years ago on one of my bitches who used to get them every now and then.

Thanks, I'll see if the chemist has any tomorrow. It does look a bit better today, it's not as red but it's still showing no sign of popping :x

Oh poor baby!!! :(
