Hi Everyone, I know a lot of us are new to the forum and there will be lots of members who have been on the forum for a while. I thought it might be nice to share a bit about our interests/hobbies as well as our lovely dogs for those who would like to.
I have Luna who is a beautiful and equally cheeky Golden Retriever. She is 6 now but think she missed the memo on that one and thinks she's still 2!! I love walking with Luna and especially countryside or coastal walks with Luna and/or family. I love to read and cook. I am forever trying new recipes and have my nose in a book. I also enjoy swimming and holidays. I just got back from a break in Tenerife with my 16 year old daughter which was lovely. Here is a picture of Luna.

Just realised I should have posted this in the Friendly section. Please feel free to move it moderators.

I've moved it for you, to General Discussions & Lounge (Friendly is more about dog friendly businesses).

Don't laugh at me but I've just recently started knitting, after not having done it since early school days.

And did I start with something simple? Of course not (thank goodness for YouTube).

Thank you @JoanneF I am still getting used to navigating the site 😁. Aw that's really cute!! It definitely looks quite tricky for a first project.

I think I knitted about four heads until I was happy enough to use one. And the pattern was really badly written - for example, increase by one stitch at each side - is that front side and back side, or left side and right side? And, cast on 12 stitches and increase at each end of each row until you get 31 - but if you do that, surely you have to end up with an even number!

Great idea for a thread!

Penny is a 5 year old supermutt mix who looks like a larger chihuahua and acts like a demon terrier unless she's being dramatic then she reverts to a chihuahua again :)
She helps me coach Cross Country running for half of the year, and is a tiny terrorist motivational coach the other half of the year forcing me outside to exercise some way or another.

When I'm not tending to her highnesses needs, I too love to read, listen to podcasts, and yes, I do enjoy being outside a lot, exploring new places. We're lucky to live in a beautiful part of the world that's very outdoorsy friendly.

I also toy with making mandalas that I mostly give away though I've sold a few too.

Well done, that does look complicated and those instructions do not sound easy at all.

Those mandalas are beautiful, I particularly like the turquoise and gold/cream one.

As for me, I love reading, doing word puzzles and jigsaw puzzles.
I also enjoy doing various crafts, I have just started trying to learn how to crochet.
I am interested in history, Ancient history being my favourite, with Ancient Egypt being the time I'm most fascinated by, I enjoy watching the old Time Team programmes and various other history programmes.

OK, I'll play.

At home, my two primary hobbies would be gardening (including water gardening) and nature photography (mostly the flowers & critters I relentlessly stalk in the above mentioned gardens!)

My two current able bodied assistants, Ellie & Felix, (both mid-sized, terrier-type mutts) help me with daily yard chores and provide incentive for lots of walking. We also try to get in at least one 'real' hike somewhere nearby on a weekly basis. Living in NW North Carolina, USA, we have loads of hiking options.

During inclement weather I enjoy reading.

(tried to attach a couple pictures, but received a message that the files were too big. :()

I dont have any hobbies except watching TV and walking the dogs. Years ago I used to go to art galleries and learn to paint in water colour , wrote short stories and read poetry and then the internet came a long and I got into dog behaviour and did the think dog course 1 and 2 and cat one.

Are you able to resize photos? Reducing them to around 800x650px should do it.

As JoanneF says, I'm a bug photography obsessive here too!! Do you keep records? I'm up to 722 species in the UK now - mostly bugs, but anything I can find really. Do you have a Flickr or Instagram account?

I also read and like word and number puzzles. Hubby and I have discovered the joys of walking in the countryside, mainly rugged scenery. We visited the Highlands (and met Joanne and timber! 🩷 ) last year and the year before. This year we did Dartmoor and Exmoor, and we're going back there next year. We have a week in the Peak District booked for September. Though it has to be said I do go off walking when I know there won't be any bugs to find (or rubbish light), and I go off it even more when it's really cold as I get Raynauld's and there are no gloves on earth that would stop my fingers turning white and really hurting.

Wow! They are beautiful! Glad to hear Penny is still keeping you on your toes.😁

I'm sure there's some way on my computer to resize things, but I'll have to play with it & figure it out. I don't keep formal records, so I really have no idea how many critters I've chased down with my camera over the years! lol

Oop! Well, there we go, I managed to shrink one down in Photoshop! Yay, me. :D I got this shot of a Milkweed Tussock Moth cat. this past week.

I post a lot of pics on FB, but that's the only social media platform I have an account for. No instagram or anything else.

Thank you @ForestWomble 🥰 I love doing jigsaw puzzles too and am fascinated by History. Ancient Egypt is really interesting. I also love documentaries about Henry VIII and his wives.

I love beautiful gardens and get garden envy!! It is not an area I know much about to plant and maintain a lovely garden, though I try to keep our a bit colourful. I would imagine there are lots of beautiful places to walk where you live.

Those were lovely hobbies to have. I love to look at artwork in different styles.

They sound like great places for walking and with the bonus of meeting up with the lovely Joanne and Timber!!🥰 I would love to visit Dartmoor and Exmoor. Did you see the ponies there? I used to have horses and would love to see them there.
