Hi All,
New Year, New Start!
I joined the group today and hope to learn as much as I can from you lot as learning by making your own mistakes can take a long time and is often just repeating others' mistakes.
I had two whips over 15 years ago from the JR rescue. One was a Laguna male - who was a sexpest, and he took a few rabbits whilst out on walks in the daytime.
The other was pure show lines and couldn't even run properly - waste of dog food.
This stirred up a bit of a love of hunting - that eventually led to me hunting hawks for 15 years with springers and GWP's.
Shifts at work have forced me to give up falconry as it is getting more and more difficult to ready the bird for hunting as they swap shifts around at late notice (falconry relies on time and appetite conditioning).
I haven't hunted for about two years now but am reaching the point where I am climbing the walls.
I want, initially, to hunt daytime, walked up rabbits. I also have rats in plague proportions on my permission and plenty of grey squirrel. But I am not experienced enough to make the call as to whether I should intentionally hunt them.
NOW FOR THE BIG REQUEST!
Anybody working, Cheshire, Lancs, North Wales that I could come out with to get a bit of experience- I am on the Wirral.
Advice on pups, pure bred or otherwise would be VERY appreciated also.
Cheers
Pete
