Hi there,

I'm new here & thought I would introduce myself & my gang!

I live in Midlothian with my partner, Martin, my greyhounds, Max & Molly, & my cat, Angie.

Max is a beautiful brindle boy. He is 5 years old & we adopted him from Borders Retired Greyhound Trust 9 months ago. 6 months later, we adopted him a sister, Molly, from our local rehoming charity Gracehounds. Molly is a gorgeous black & white girl who is 3 years old. Both dogs are ex-racers & are now very much enjoying their retirement, much of which seems to be spent on our sofas! I love them both to bits & couldn't imagine life without them.

I am a volunteer dog walker with the Midlothian based charity, Gracehounds. The charity, which started up in 2007 & is run entirely by volunteers, is dedicated to finding permanent homes & a better life for greyhounds & lurchers. You can find out more about Gracehounds, including dogs who are currently awaiting adoption, here:

I make & sell greyhound inspired hand printed items on Etsy. My shop is called The Dog House & I donate 5% of my profits to Gracehounds. You can visit my shop here:

Look forward to hearing from you!

What stunning dogs

Since losing my old greyhound last year aged 14 it's been the first time for over 20 years I haven't had an ex-racer (or two) around. I love my lurchers but really miss having a grey, they have a character all of their own - and of course there are so many of them needing homes. One day I will definitely have another!

I think we need a few more pictures of your two :D

:) Well done for adopting your gorgeous greyhounds  I helped at my local rescue and ended up bringing 3 home over the three years I worked there  I considered it one of the perks of the job  my OH wasnt so sure :D but they do make great pets - love the bandana with couch potato on

By the way, must add

thanx for the welcome guys - nice to meet you all!

your dogs are all beautiful.

how do you get the pics of them in your signature like that? (apparently i'm a bit forum-challenged!

Hi, your Max and Molly are gorgeous. I have a Max too, he is 8 and broke his leg and fractured his skull back in October, fortunately he is coming along nicely now - he fell over in the garden, he's the black and white, you can just see the outline of the plate in his leg - front left and the dent in his head. I also have Tiny who is 4, and is my special baby - he has quite a few medical problems, most recently a nervous breakdown when faced with going out for walks on his own!

Aw, Max & Tiny are both gorgeous! Sorry to hear about their health problems. Max has had his share of them too: when we first adopted him we found a lump on one of his paws that turned out to be a tumour (a histiocystoma). It had to be removed & the surgical wound got infected. It ended up taking months & months to heal =( & then there was the time he had a run-in with a cattle grid... honestly, getting him insured was the best money we ever spent! Hope your two are on the mend.

Ooh, poor Max, sound painful. Yes, pet insurance is wonderful! I daren't tell you how much we've spent on Max's leg -m let's just say it's in the middle four figure numbers! Tiny won't mend unfortunately, he has a life limiting condition called megaesophagus, but he is doing okay at the mo. :( Max is doing well, he walked all the way round the block today, and then went out again to the bottom of the street and back! :)

Just to update you on how my 2 are getting along...

On Saturday they had their first walk without coats for several months as Spring hit East Lothian with a big dose of sunshine! :D They loved frolicking around with the wind on their backs & even went for a wee swim in the river together - Max just paddling but Molly properly swimming!

Back to clouds & drizzle again on Sunday but we went on our weekly walk with the Gracehounds bunch anyway. Found a fantastic spot where many of the dogs could get off lead. It was lovely to see them all running around playing together in the grass! Unfortunately the play culminated in an extremely muddy bog, where my 2 got absolutely filthy. So it was baths all round when we got home, followed by a prolonged period of roaching by the fire to dry off. :)

There are some pics of the dogs enjoying their weekend here: http://martinjones.smugmug.com/gallery/748...482856693_ZGiE8

Thank you :)

Right now they are in my bad books though  :

We had a power cut last night & I went to light some candles, only to find the dogs had had a good chew on them & obviously eaten some - now that explains the curiously waxy stools the other week!

Honestly, is there anything these dogs don't think is edible?!

Shame I can only stay angry with them for about 30 seconds! :D
