Downpatrick dog pound, Co Down, N Ireland currently has a fawn rough coated lurcher, medium sized I think, and a blue and white whippet pup approx 3 mos old. I was told about the pup on the phone, pic should be up on the website shortly but isn't yet

Carrickfergus (Northern Ireland) pound currently advertises two young wheaten-coloured rough-haired lurchers

CFS 5/9 male lurcher Carrickfergus pound wheaten rough coated pup, about 6 mos old

http://z6.invisionfree.com/Northern_Irelan...ic=7136&hl=

BS 5/70 year old male, similar type and colouring

http://z6.invisionfree.com/Northern_Irelan...ic=7125&hl=

The staff at this pound work hard to get dogs into foster, rescue, homes but they are really inundated at the moment; would love to hear from you if you can help!

----

http://www.irishanimals.ie/adoptagreyhound.html features both greyhounds and other sighthounds, so if you can only keep a somewhat smaller dog, consider

Kirk, Jed, Pixie (only 14-15 in), Cooper, possibly Cocoa & Kelvin

I'm disappointed that black and tan salukix Mr Neeson is still seeking a home

if you'd like a wirehaired sighthound from the south of Ireland (Dublin area), see Daisy and Tara and pups: http://www.irishanimals.ie/dublin_homes.html

Carrickfergus- details in previous message - has a brindle and white whippet bitch in now, approx 4 years old . I don't know if this is the one Eamonn McCrory found (in which case rescue places have been offered, but as I said this may be another needy hound)

Downpatrick pound, N Ireland has a very underweight brindle whippet cross bitch, looks very whippety but broken coated. I hope someone gets her out fast or I don't think she'll survive (?)

I'm told Cavan SPCA has a black and white whippet listed on Facebook (I can't access at present). contact:

I'm 1 and a half years old. I'm a white and brown Lurcher who arrived to the DSPCA in December with some sores on

my paws and sides. I'm doing much better now and I'm ready to find a new forever home. I'm a lovely, friendly boy

and I am housetrained. I get on quite well with most dogs and love to go for walks. I'm a very sweet boy and have

lots of love to share - will I steal your heart?

NOTE: I am currently in the Treatment Kennels so you will need to make an appointment to meet me.

Dunboyne pound (co Meath, republic of Ireland) dark brindle shorthaired male lurcher: In: 16/08/11

Needs out: Monday 22nd August

Charlie is a friendly affectionate and wiggly boy. Only too happy to have a human companion

even if it is for a short time. He seems like a good guy all round. Playing with me in the

bow position before giving me one of those handsome gazes that are so typical of this gentle

breed. He is very affectionate and he loves being petted and it was heartbreaking to hear

him cry as I brought him back to his run. Just the kind of dog that will make you want to

take him home once you meet him. If you can help him please post, pm or call Martina on 086 3871498. (Ireland country code +353)

Mira is an extremely cute, pretty little lurcher puppy. She adores other dogs and is fine

with cats. She is a really good, mannerly little pup and is already house trained. Mira is

looking for a home to call her own. She will only be rehomed to a home where she will be

kept in the house as a pet. Anyone wishing to adopt her must have a fully secure garden and

will be subject to a home visit. An adoption contract will be signed by her new owner

agreeing to spay Mira when she reaches 6 months old. For further information, please contact

Jane at sighthoundstrollsATgmail.com (replace At with @)

Sahara is a lovely, petite, light brown Greyhound. She is a high energy dog who would do

well in an active household. She is very affectionate, loves attention and especially loves

being groomed. She walks nicely on the lead, is very playful and is very fond of playing

with toys. She is good with other dogs but is not suitable to live with cats. Sahara is lots

of fun and will make someone a lovely companion. She will only be rehomed to a home where

she will be kept in the house as a pet. Anyone wishing to adopt her must have a fully secure

garden and will be subject to a home visit. For further information, please contact Jane at

Coleraine dog pound has an attractive and quiet fawn with white female lurcher, similar to a small female greyhound. Ref #115; I never asked Margaret Graham, who has the contract from the council for boarding pound dogs, what the bitch is named. She is thought to be about 5 years old. She was underweight when found, but looking better now than she does in the photo on-line. Ballymena Dogs Trust doesn't take in lurchers, but Dogs Trust did supply voucher for vaccinations and speying, which has been done. This lurcher is in the pound for over a month, not in imminent danger, but in need of socialisation and a good home. She is tractable, but nervous of some people, seems to prefer quiet adults.

(I think the pointer cross pictured also looks like maybe part sighthound)
