Currently petsitting for brother, who’s on holiday with big time difference.

She’s supposed to have her heat in Oct.

Had some blood spotting and licking/peeing a lot - though I don’t know her usual habits.

Is she in heat or something else?

Thanks!

Yup.

Bitches often come on heat off-schedule, especially if there is a major change in circumstances. In the days when I used to house-sit, I could almost guarantee that a bitch would come in season.

Sorry you are having this little surprise. If you are used to bitches and seasons, no more to be said, but if it's a first time for you, please ask anything you need to know. And if the garden isn't VERY securely fenced, she must always be on a lead when you take her out in it. Watch out for stray male dogs!
