Can any help us out?

Our whippet dog has started to eat faeces. :rant:

I seem to remember reading somewhere years ago that dogs do this because they have some kind of a vitamin/mineral deficiency but I can't remember which one it is. I don't suppose any one else has read about it and can refresh my memory so that I can cure it. Any ideas would be appreciated?

Many thanks for the suggestion which I will try out, but I would also like to know what minerals he is lacking also so that I can correct it. Fortunatly he has only just started to do it so it's not turned into a habit yet!

I have just phoned the vets to ask the question & although they used to think that poo snaking was down to a lack of vitamins it's no longer the case.

They said to add vitamin C to the diet which makes the taste of the poo snack un edible to the dog. If they do it whilst out & about to carry Tabasco sauce and put that on the poo snack before they eat and they will soon learn that it isn't that yummy after all.
