Can any help us out?

Our whippet dog has started to eat faeces.

I seem to remember reading somewhere years ago that dogs do this because they have some kind of a vitamin/mineral deficiency but I can't remember which one it is. I don't suppose any one else has read about it and can refresh my memory so that I can cure it. Any ideas would be appreciated?

Many thanks

Michelle

Many thanks for the suggestion which I will try out, but I would also like to know what minerals he is lacking also so that I can correct it. Fortunatly he has only just started to do it so it's not turned into a habit yet! :)

I have just phoned the vets to ask the question & although they used to think that poo snaking was down to a lack of vitamins it's no longer the case.

They said to add vitamin C to the diet which makes the taste of the poo snack un edible to the dog. If they do it whilst out & about to carry Tabasco sauce and put that on the poo snack before they eat and they will soon learn that it isn't that yummy after all.

Hope this helps some of you with the same problem
