ISLA

Meet the beautiful little Isla (pronounced ‘eye-la’). Isla is a little fawn lurcher puppy with the sweetest little black face who was found as a stray in Ireland. She is most likely a whippet cross and shouldn’t get to be very big.

Isla has unfortunately had a very bad start to life. She is about 4 months old, but when she was first picked up she was thought to be only 1 or 2 months as she is so tiny. She was found in a very underweight and undernourished condition with a heavy parasite burden and a tummy bug, but thankfully was rescued just in the nick of time.

Isla is now in a loving foster home where she is finally getting all the love and nourishment she needs. She is on a good quality puppy food in small but frequent doses and has been treated for worms and fleas. She also had the very beginnings of mange, brought on by her poor condition, but this has rapidly cleared up with some medicated washes and a good diet.

Despite being so very poorly, Isla never stopped doing all the things a puppy does. She is a real little fighter and such a sweet girlie. She is coming on in leaps and bounds in her foster home, and has a real zest for life now that she’s finally getting the nourishment she needs.

Isla is doing well in her foster home, and is currently learning all about housetraining. She is also learning all about ripping up newspapers! Her fosterer has started her on basic training and she already comes bounding to you if you whistle. She is sharing her foster home with other dogs and is a sociable little girl. Isla is also suitable to go to a home with cats.

As with all puppies, Isla is very inquisitive about her surroundings and is in to everything. She will need a puppy-proofed home with someone around a lot of the time, especially when she is so young. We would also strongly recommend Isla’s new adopters take her to puppy socialisation and training classes so that she can continue to grow up in to a social, well adjusted little lady.

This beautiful little girl deserves a loving home where she can get all the TLC and affection that has been denied her. She is sure to make a smashing family pet.

Isla is currently being fostered in South East Ireland. She is available for adoption, but will need to gain weight and better health before she can travel to her new home. Potential adopters will also need to agree to have her neutered when she is old enough (at approx 6 mths of age) and unfortunately Kerry Greyhound Connection is unable to help with the costs of this operation.

She can be transported via Kerry Greyhounds to the UK if a suitable home offer comes up. This will be organised and paid for by Kerry Greyhounds, and we ask only for a donation to help cover costs. Please note that adopters will need to travel to our nearest collection point to pick her up, and if you are in the UK and wish to meet before adopting her, she will be fostered in the Norfolk area.

Isla is vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.

If you are interested in adopting little Isla, please email me on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our adoption application form and information pack. Emails are usually replied to within 24 hrs. Thanks!
