Thanks Helen

This is great, your time & effort is appreciated

Lets hope IG breeders/owners are happy to post anything they think may be of some help or interest :))

thanks helen , im sure this will be a great help

with the risk of leg breaks in igs would it be worth compiling a list of vets that would have enough knowledge and experience in dealing with this type of breed and breaks?

Well I can start you off. These are a few years old now but I started to compile a list for the IG Club Bulletin when I was Chairman.

The best in the country is the Glascow Veterinery college and there is a vets near Moulton, Northampton (Next to the Moulton College) I will try to look up.

If you do have a leg break you should try to have the leg plated and not have a frame put on (the sort that sticks through the leg)

The average cost of a leg break these days is around £1200 plus

next suggestion please everybody,

which insurance company would you recommend for cover in this breed and your reasons why? thank you

im with asda coz they ticked all the boxes i felt at the time i needed , as time has gone on and i have learnt more im now considering moving to marks and spencer as they will continue to pay for life long illnesses

I use Marks and Spencer for 6 dogs. (The 7th is too old at 12.5years).

(M&S will cover for life if you start off with a younger dog - she was just too old to start the policy.)

I pay around £11.50 per dog and my two 9yr olds are around £15 - both with no excess to pay on each claim! Brilliant!

They're very good at paying up too and friendly UK based phone service

I've read the small print and am happy with their 3rd party cover etc too. It's always worth comparing the things you never think about, like kennelling costs, but you can never be sure. I think M&S are very competitive

I am a proud IG owner. I have a black male IG "Sir Pogo" I was wanting to find him a girlfriend but where I am in virgina there aren't many IG owners. Help!I have no idea what to do on how to find him a girl. I also want to lure race him for fun. He is registard and has a champion blood line but I don't want to do what has to be done on that level. What is the best way to start him on lure training? Any info would be great.

Thanks

Missy
