Hi there,

I live not too far from you in wakefield. I don't take my 2 racing myself but I think the nearest racing clubs are the Lancashire pedigree and I'm guessing that there may be something in south yorks. Post this in the racing forum or just have a look at all the club forums.

Good luck :luck:

Hi tobias yorkist

The Lancashire Pedigree Whippet Racing Club was set up to provide whippet owners from Lancashire and surounding Counties (yorkshire, Merseyside ect) with a place to race and train their whippets.

Along side our weekly race meetings we also run training for new dogs (of any age or ability) and puppies.

The Club is affiliated to the WCRA (Whippet Club Racing Association)

New and perspective members are always welcome to come along and meet everyone and have a chat about anything to do with Whippets, (racing, training, feeding ect) experianced members are always on hand to offer good advice to owners.

Our race meetings are held in a freindly relaxed atmosphere the emphasis being on enjoying seeing our dogs doing what they enjoy doing (running) and winning for the owners is just a bonus.

We hold regular trophy & rossett meetings where members dogs compeat to win their owners a lovely trophy or rossett to take home (and keep for good)

The club operates a handicap system that means all dogs regardless of ability have a chance to win.

The Club has a WRCA Seconder available at race meetings (or at his home by appointment) to process passport forms to enable dogs to compeat at Open race meetings as well as WCRA Championships.

Our Race meetings are held at Littleborough Rugby Clubs ground behing Hollingworth Lake Littleborough.

We have excelant on site facilities which include a liscenced social club (serving cheap beer & hot food & drinks), clean toilets, a safe running ground well away from main roads.

All set within the boundry of the Hollingworth Lake Country park and all that it has to offer.

Directions ~ Leave the M62 at jnc 21 (Milnrow) on leaving the motorway look for the big brown signs for Hollingworth Lake Country Park, when you reach Hollingworth Lake follow it round till you see a big white pub in front of you (The Fish) as you reach the pub turn right into Rakewood Lane, follow the Ln for appromiantly 3/4 mile you will then see thje Rugby post directly in front you you above the trees, turn right into the Rugby Clubns Car Park.

Our ground is only a 5 minute drive from the Motorway.

for more details on the club or racing please contact the clubs Secretary Mark Roberts on 07903 624876 or e/mail ~ parkstonewhippets@hotmail.com
