Hi, our Jack Russell keeps having anal gland leakages usually every other day. Just wondering if we need to take him to the vet or is this normal?

Sounds like a trip to the vet would be a good idea. Your dog may have an infected anal gland and a short course of antibiotics would clear it up.

My jacks glands have to be taken care of at least three times a year.....nastiest smell ever

Get to vet or learn how to do it yourself, leaving it came become very painfull with a abcess the end result,

Ask the vet to show you how to squeeze the anal glands. Even a youtube video can help. For now id go with taking it to the vet as it may be infected but after that you can save yourself the money and squeeze them yourself. Although I advise not to go overboard on squeezing them, keep it to a few times a year or as little as possible as the more you do it, the more you will need to do it if that makes sense?
