Does anyone have any info on the 'Jimanica' lines. I am looking for a whippet pup and have contacted a very nice lady who has a litter with Jimanica Jonathan Seagull, Jimanica Jet Star Light and Laguna Lucky Lupin in its ped, any info on these dogs would be appreciated.

I am looking to do a bit of rabbiting/lamping and also join my local whippet racing club, do you think a pup from this breeding would be suitable? Also, what would you expect to pay for a pup? Dont get me wrong, I am happy to pay the market rate but I have only had lurchers before and the price of pedigree pups is a bit of a shock!

Hi Toncho,

Welcome to K9

A whippet will do everything you've listed and much more, i've not got any details on those specific dogs sorry.

good luck with your pup when you get it.

If i remember rightly bothe the Jimanica and laguna lines are show and coursing lines both doing well at both and also both have been introduced into racing lines doing very well. One of the jimanica pups from down cornwalkl i do believe made racing champion. So i do think you will do well on those lines.

IMHO .....With these lines they will be good for working, but will be a tad slow for the race track ........If you want a dog just for working this line will be great, but if you want to really compete at proper racing then you should consider a racing bred Whippet (who will also be very capable of working  ) ........but then there are alway's exceptions in anything ..... :luck:

I think Mesdames Hill (Jimanica) and Bond-Gunning (Laguna) turn up fairly regularly at the Hillsprint (nr Bristol) don't they? It would be an interesting day out, and you could probably see some of these dogs running, and compare them with a variety of others.

Venture drag coursing details

We've only ever bumped into Veronica Hill (Jimanica) at the vets, she seems very friendly. I have a 3/4 Laguna dog which I'm very happy with, but then I don't do 'proper' whippet racing only rabbiting and lure coursing.

Yes Ann Spencer Thomas and Veronica Hill (Jimanica) have been to all the hill sprint's so far .......the same as Lilah Bond Gunning (Laguna) ...........You'll be able to see the different types, show, coursing and racing .......but it'll be difficult to judge the speed difference due to them being in stakes of dogs of the same types ........but it's a great day out with a bunch of happy Whippets :D
