JOCK

Meet Jock. He is a 3 year old ex-racing greyhound boy who was rescued from the pound with a broken hock. He will be in plaster for another 4 weeks or so and will then be ready to go to his new home. He is a big fawn boy with stunning markings around his face, and is going to be very handsome with some TLC and a good quality food.

Jock is a lovely, laid back boy who really enjoys being around people. He soaks up all the love and fuss you give him and always seems so grateful for it. He is good on the lead and doesn’t pull even though his exercise is restricted right now due to his injury. He travels well in the car and is generally a very easy boy to have.

Jock is good with other dogs and hasn’t caused any trouble with the other greyhounds in our kennel. He has not been tested yet with smaller dogs or cats, but these can be carried out prior to adoption if required. Often ex-racing greyhounds need a bit of socialisation with smaller dog breeds as they would never have seen them before, and at the start may not realise they are dogs!

Jock has not yet been in a home so will need a bit of time to adjust to the new environment. He is clean in his kennel so we feel housetraining shouldn’t be a real problem, and usually greyhounds take only 2 weeks or so to start to settle in.

Like most greyhounds, Jock is a total couch potato and does not need a huge amount of exercise. He will be content with two 20min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch his legs offlead in a safe area once or twice a week once his leg is fully healed.

Jock is currently being kennelled in Ireland, and can be transported via Kerry Greyhounds to the UK or Europe if a suitable home offer comes up. This will be organised and paid for by Kerry Greyhounds, and we ask only for a donation to help cover costs. Please note that adopters will need to travel to our nearest collection point to pick him up. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.

If you are interested in fostering or adopting Jock, please email me on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our adoption application form and information pack. Thanks!

Kerry Greyhound Connection is a small voluntary organisation based in County Kerry, Ireland and Norfolk, England. It operates through a network of volunteers spaced over Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe. We can look after approximately 70 greyhounds at any one time, in Ireland and the UK.

Each dog is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and given a full veterinary check before being adopted.

We assess the suitability of all home offers, and we have homed greyhounds in Ireland, the UK, Central Europe and the USA.
