I was wondering who on the board belonged to the whippet rescue, and also how many folk have been inspected and are looking to adopt.

I do wish the charity had a higher profile as when I was looking, I phoned and left a message but had no response. With the current spate of whippets turning up in rescue centres, it would be nice to have a better contact system...........As it is Christmas, I am remembering Jake from last year and wondering

When ever I have spoken to Linda Jones ( head co ordinator) she says there is always more people wanting to home whippets than whippets that need homes .

As regards those that are in Kennels , I know the RSPCA will not entertain getting in touch with ANY breed rescues  but if any one heres of dogs in kennels then try to get them to ring JR whippet rescue . I tried with that last dog that was in kennels in Notts , she said shed get in touch with Linda if nothing came up, but who knows :(

I am connected to Manchester RSPCA and we are only too happy to refer breeds to specialiast breed rescue as they are generally the best people to deal with whatever breed it happens to be. I would much rather a dog go to breed rescue & be rehomed fairly quickly than sit in our kennels for months waiting for the right person to come along. Only last month we rehomed an English Bull Terier within a week via breed rescue. It depends on the policy of the individual branch, not the RSPCA in general.

Thanks for that, it is nice to keep the Rescues in mind at this time of year in particular. Are they moving forward with the web-site at all?

Has anyone any news of the two oldies in Cumbria who needed a home a couple of weeks ago?

They are still in need of a loving home. Looking for a nice quiet house to live their twilight years together (no other dogs). Now getting quite desperate :(

Please if anyone can find it in their hearts to give them a loving home PM me.

I am willing meet someone half way (within reasonable driving distance) for anyone down south or up in Scotland etc.

I've noticed a couple of whippets being rehomed through greyhound and lurcher rescues recently. Often whippets are easy for those rescues to rehome.

I've also been told by a couple of rescue folk that it's hard to get any response or help from JR whippet rescue. So maybe they just don't bother to try them anymore. :(
