Knut Blutecher last judged Bitches at NCWC in 2003

Here is his critique (courtesy of the SYWC Results book for 2003 - we have some of the 2006 book available for interested parties. - please pm me )

Bitches: How wonderful to be back judging in the UK. I really enjoy judging sighthounds especially one of my favourite breeds, the whippet. England was at the very best with sunshine, fresh green lawns, lots of flowering and the trees started to get green. Back home in Norway it was a bit of snowing when we left, so your spring was most appreciated. Thank you so much for being invited to this well organized show. We were picked up at Manchester Airport by Mr Robert Newsham and had a very nice stay during the weekend together with his dear wife Mrs Elaine Newsham as well as some very nice greyhounds and horses in their lovely Windspiel House. Your hospitality was second to none. I had a very nice entry of some lovely bitches. Most of my winners were top quality bitches, but two stood out from the rest. Both my CC and RCC-winners were really top class bitches. I would not mind owning one of these! I would also like to give the ringside a positive remark for their lovely sportsmanship and all the positive feed back. Yes, it was really a joy to be judging at your show.

MPB (17);

1. Savilepark Stylistic, beautifully balanced most feminine fawn at 8 months, super size, type, make and shape, just right for her age. She had a very nice head, eye, small neat ears, long neck, top and underline, excellent chest and brisket for her age, lovely shoulder, good straight front and the best of feet, she was a very nice mover and kept her lovely balance on the move. Very nice presented. One to watch

2. Palmik Princess, attractive feminine fawn brindle of very nice size and type. Excellent head and dark eye for her body colour, very nice neck, well made body, a bit flat in topline, nice underline, not the same angulated hindquarters as 1, but balanced to her front, nice feet, a nice mover for her age, most promising

3. Willingwip Prim'N' Proper.

PB (18)

1. Pipijay Drops of Jupiter, rather strong, but still feminine white and brindle, with lovely curves, would like to see a bit more elegance, especially in head, very good eye, excellent neck, lovely top and underline, nice chest and brisket, well made body, nice angulation, strong and well developed hindquarters, moved very easy and daisy cutting;

2. Ditherwell Dixie Daisy, feminine fawn of lovely type, feminine head and dark eyes for her body colour, elegant neck, good shoulder, nice top and underline, good chest and brisket, balanced angulation, nice side movement, but could be cleaner coming;

3. Copsebury Lightly Splashed by Moonlake.

JB (17)

1. Silvabrin Salsa at Bridgegard, most feminine and attractive fawn brindle, of excellent size, type, make and shape. Lots of long sweeping curves, excellent classical head and expression, long nicely ached neck into lovely shoulders, nice body, deep brisket, front assembly so good, rear angulation and hocks so sound giving her a balanced outline both standing and on the move, shown in top condition, excellent feet, one to watch for

2. Silkstone Dream On, well made red fawn brindle of excellent size and type, balanced throughout. She had a very nice head and correct eye colour and shape, excels in body, chest and depth of brisket, pleasing curvy outline. Could have a better upper arm, but saying this, she was one of the very best coming and going. Shown in excellent condition. Very good bone and well made feet. Pity to meet 1 in this class

3. Spinneyhill Camelia.

SYB (14);

1. Silvabrin Salsa at Bridgegard, came from the class above and won even this one

2. Jasarat Blaerbarry Rose of Jasarat, feminine brindle and white bitch, very nice type and silhouette, classical head and eye, lovely neck, shoulder, top and underline, well made body and brisket, would like to see a better upper arm, very nice feet, nice mover from side, could be cleaner when coming

3. Cornstalk Candice.

MB (19);

1. Palmik Princess;

2. Jasarat Gipsy Gold, very nice bitch of excellent size and type. She had a lovely head and expression, very nice reach of neck, a very nice topline standing, but tends to flatten a bit on the move. Excellent underline, nice feet, would like to see a better upper arm, but a nice mover

3. Stronglane Whisper Wishes.

NB (17);

1. Denelsie Lucylastic, feminine brindle with white trim, excellent type and outline. Lovely headpiece and expression, long elegant ached neck, super top and underline, well angulated front and hindquarters, excellent thigh and second thigh, neat tight feet, kept her outline on the move, excellent easy mover

2. Home & Fisher-Home's Jasarat Gipsy Gold

3. Cornstalk Candice.

GB (15);

1. Nevedith Foxtrot Flair at Tonmawr, a rather strongly build white and brindle, but still feminine, ultrasound. She had a very nice outline, head and eye, excellent neck, well made body, good chest, deep brisket, not too much angulated, but balanced, which made her the best mover in the class. Well made feet

2. Silkstone Butterfly at Silkdance, attractive blue fawn, build on long sweeping lines, she had a very nice head and eye, would like to see a better set of neck and lay of shoulders, lovely top and underline, nice feet and movement

3. Oakbark Making A Dream at Cornstalk.

PGB (18);

1. Drakesoak Golden Trinket, caught my eye when entering the ring, lots of quality and long sweeping curves, excellent size and type, most pleasing feminine head and eye, long elegant neck, excellent top and underline, nice chest and deep brisket, strong loin, well angulated hindquarters, excellent feet, balanced mover, very well presented, liked her a lot

2. Westbrin Bella Chica at Savilepark, another bitch with lots of quality, very nice white and red fawn of very nice type, pleasing head and eye, nice neck, strong topline, underline needed a bit more tuck up, well made body with excellent chest and depth of brisket, very good feet, she was a nice mover

3. Aphrael Aoibhgreine.

LB (28);

1. Barnesmore Black Orchid, most attractive long casted dark brindle with white trim, top quality bitch of super type, make and shape, I really enjoy to see length of body and well made hindquarters, but not more on this one. Wonderful head and excellent dark eyes, keen alert expression, well set ears, pleasing ached neck. She had a very nice top and underline, well developed body, excellent chest and brisket, well angulated front to match her long hindquarters, all sweeping curves, really enjoyed to see her move, she had lots of ring presence and flew around the ring, a bit close behind, but a real eyecatcher, out of the top drawer, liked her a lot

2. Bayard Islamist at Dumbriton, feminine young bitch with lots of quality, super size, type and outline. She had a very nice head and eye, excellent neck, good brisket, nice and balanced angulated, she was a nice mover from side, coming and going, lovely tight feet, just needs more time

3. Hubbestad Mustique.

OB (19); A very nice class with several top quality bitches.

1. Ch Spyanfly Say It's Bardo, absolutely stunning fawn brindle bitch with white trim, lovely curves throughout - no angles at all. Perfect outline standing and on the move, beautiful head and eye, lovely ears and well arches neck, shoulder well laid, beautiful top and underline, straight leg, excellent pasterns and feet, beautiful sweeping curves to hindquarters, wonderful depth, good spring of ribs. Shown in wonderful condition, moved well from all directions, stood herself well at all times whenever I would look back along the lineup. Easy reach and drive keeping her lovely shape. A beautiful balanced bitch combining type, grace, speed, strength and beauty in a manner which carried her to CC and later on Best in Show judged together with my co-judge Mrs J Beckett;

2. Ir Ch Catchacre Tiger Lily of Barnesmore, another top quality bitch that caught my eye as soon as she came into the ring, reminded me a bit of a bitch we had some years ago of McTavish/Dondelayo-breeding, most impressive red brindle, built on long soft lines and sweeping curves, great construction. Super head and eye, long elegant neck into very nice shoulders, excellent top and underline, well made chest and deep brisket, straight front legs, excellent feet and pasterns, sweeping well angulated and strong hindquarters, excelled in both side movement, coming and going, flew round the ring. Unfortunate for her to meet 1 in this class. RCC. Two really stunning bitches

3. Collooney Silver Silas.

Specil Blue or Black OB (7); This class of black and blues was a hard one. Quite an uneven group.

1. Pretty Maid of Blandings, most feminine blue bitch with elegant make and shape. Elegant head and lovely eye, excellent reach of neck and lay of shoulders, very nice topline, balanced angulation, excellent depth of brisket, nice side movement but a bit close going away, nice feet

2. Peperone Photoplay, very nice black bitch shown in top muscular and coat condition, excellent coat for a black, lovely size and type, very nice top and underline. Typical head, good eye, long strong and well ached neck, well developed body, nice angulation and mover, could not forgive her soft pasterns, which is not right for a sighthound, otherwise a lovely black girl

3. Martinsell Blue Viola.

VB (11)

1. Nimrodel Risque, an elegant lady at 9 years young in white and red, of lovely size, make and shape. She had a feminine head with a soft keen expression, nice neck, excellent body with deep chest and brisket, really enjoyed her strong topline both standing and on the move. Excellent condition for her age.

2. Ch Oakbark Mariel, an old favourite of mine. Remember her so well giving her RCC up in Scotland some years ago. Now she was a lady at 9, still keeping lots of her many qualities and excellent type, super head and an eye of wisdom, strong neck, excellent deep chest and brisket, well angulated, her topline tends to show her age and she was not the thinnest in the class

3. Derohan Nos Na Gaiothe with Althaea.
