I am not exactly planning on taking in a second whippet at this moment in time but at some stage within the next year or two I would like to add to the family. I am posting now just as a heads up for anyone out there that thinks they may know of a dog that would fit in. I do have quite a few requirements so it may take some time for the right dog to come along. I would be looking for a dog approx 1 yr old, preferably a neutered male. A dog that has not a very high prey drive as I am looking for a pet and not to work. Must be very good with other dogs. Good with cats, ie leave them alone Good on lead and in the car, housetrained and preferably with some basic obedience training/ house manners, good recall would be a real bonus. Also if he/she did not destuff/destroy his fluffy toys that would also be a huge bonus A dog that likes to cuddle and lie on your lap would be nice and happy to be left alone for a few hours a day without being destructive (three max). Most importantly a sweet gentle nature. Smaller size preferable ie approx 17 or 18 inches. I have a particular fondness for big pointy ears. Colour preference if I could choose would be blue with white trim but colour is not important.
So thats me being completely honest about the type of dog that would fit in perfectly, obviously it is highly unlikely that there is a dog out there that fits almost all these requirements (although Lucy does but she is perfect ) I am flexable and have plenty of time for training, which I believe is something that should be ongoing anyway. The above is the ideal and like I said I am flexable. The most important thing is that the new dog fits in well with Lola the Cat and Lucy the Whippet. If the right dog did come along sooner rather than later it might be possible to bring things forward. I want to do this during the summer months while I am off so possibly this summer but more likely the next.
I can offer a great home full of love and comfort. So if you hear of anything please keep me in mind.
Thanks
Sarah
