Someone nearby wants to use my broadband

connection to run their laptop.......will this make

any difference to my pc's performance

pretty sure it'll slow yours down, is it wirelessly?

I assume that is why most people protect their wireless connections, as each computer working from it slows it down a little, no idea how much though.

Personally speaking - I don't think it's great idea to let someone share your BB connection. They then have access to your network and could theoretically and if so inclined get into your computer/ intercept emails etc.

Also if they download a lot (I think even watching BBC iPlayer) or are big gamers you will notice your BB slow down.

I guess it depends on how well you know/ trust this person, and how fast your connection is.

Is it wireless, Ann?

If so it's probably already being used by others around you ......... my neighbour has a unsecured network and my computer connects to this automatically if my hub is down

Yes it is wireless Jane.

But i am password protected, this person can't

use mine unless i give them my password.
