Knitting worsted or olon worsted. Approx 1 1/2 skeins of 4oz yarn, size 6 needles (usa)

Cast on 76 stitches K1 P1 ribbing for 2 inches

Then stockinette stitch to 18 inches including the ribbing

Decrease 1 stitch each side each knit row, to 56 stitches, then work in ribbing K1 P1 for 5 inches which makes collar

Underpiece - Cast on 30 stitches and work in ribbing K1 P1 for 4 inches increase evenly to 36 stitches and still ribbing continue until 9 inches.

Decrease 1 stitch beginning and end of each row to 1 stitch. Cast off

Sew together leaving a hole on either side for whippets front legs to go through

Collar folds back like a turle neck sweater.

Thank you so much, now I just have to make it!!

Daisy (the one in purple is 18" ) Moz is a bit bigger (the one in green) The second set Mum knitted she adjusted the underpiece so it was a bit longer. She did a santa one for moz and a pink tutu for daisy. In the pipe line is a super dog one for moz adjusted for his boy bits and I am waiting on a new improved tutu for Daisy

I knitted one for Sid and was so pleased with myself when it was finished :)) But I just cant work out how to sew it up - where on earth does the underneath bit go (w00t) . Does the point of the triangle have to be joined to the neck bit? Any advise greatly appreciated

Hi,

I'm Michelle from Australia, and new to K9. I have an elderly Whippet, Sasha.

This morning I finished knitting the same pattern (sourced from another site) and it was too small for my regular size whippet (neck and chest were too tight).

Can anyone translate the American worsted wool and size 6 needles to something that makes more sense?

I used 12 ply acrylic and 4mm needles (US size 6)....what did I do wrong?

Thanks

Hello and welcome Michelle, there's a few Aussies here, me being one of them. I cant knit to save myself but there is a Panda booklet devoted to dog knits (cat # 209) The whippet model in it is a 'friend' of mine & the sire of my 2 boys Tag & Puck. You should be able to buy it pretty easily. The first shop I went into had 2 copies.

Where abouts are you?

Linda

Thanks Linda,

I will try and get hold of the Panda booklet, it takes me a while to knit anything, so I'm trying to get started before the rally cold weather hits us.

I'm in Bathurst, Central West NSW, where abouts are you? I only have one girl Sasha who is around 11 years, (I'm not sure of her exact age, I got her when she was around 4 years) she's a blue and white parti.

Better late than never, I've only just found this reply, sorry Michelle. I live in the Yarra Valley Victoria.

How's the knitting going? Did you manage to get the Panda catalogue?

Linda

Michelle, there is a shop in Mooroolbark which stocks the pattern books.
