Went out last night Me, my cusin arron and is Dad, we went out for a drive a little further then our local hunting ground.

the rain was pelting it down and we had doubts about how the night would go, but as we arrived the rain had calmed down slightly, we booted up and started walking, we flicked lamp on and there was about 5 rabbits out but all further down the other end of field so we decided not to run them, we carried on and spotted a likey target in the middle of a field the dog was slipped, the rabbit ran towards me and arron and she struck at it, it toppled over and she then picked it up in a fashion....

we continued around the fields and took a further 4 in total we had 5 rabbits from about 10 runs and the ones that escaped did deserve to. for us 5 rabbits in a couple of hours in a cracking night and we all enjoyed the night.

when we arrived back to the car we had a nice flask of tea and a galaxy bar waiting for us lol

on the way back the rain became that bad we had to pull over as we could not see a thing even with the window wipers on full speed lol

great to see the kids getting involved!! about time we started re educating the kids and showing them the old ways

looks like you have a good relationship with bramble your lurcher- well done!

hope some of em get eaten, nothing like killing and eating your own food- my dad shoots deer, pheasant, wood cock etc- we have to eat them all- cant let them go to waste!!!

my terrier is quick but never got a rabbit- once got a baby squirrel- thought she was the bee's knees!i didnt!

i was just thinking that myself..even tho i will be classed as young to some at the age of 25 :b but i have been brought up with terriers and lurchers and was going out bushing/lamping/ferreting.etc etc from a very young age to me theres nothing better than man & dog in there own lil world :)) i wouldent have it any other way

i also take my lil cousin out with me odd time and he loves it too. his mother dont tho becouse he's nagging her for a dog  :teehee:

i have also been brought up into hunting as my family has had lurcher for many ogenerations.my dad had lurchers when i was young but doesnt do much hunting anymore due to work.so its left to me and my cousin to keep this tradition alive and in the family.or the rabbits do go back into the food chain as well be eating them soon as we find a a good recipey.gonnabeout again soon so shall keep you posted.maybe a little night time ferreting.

good hunting

 you cant beat rabbit stew yum yum , my mother always cooked that ! i do remember my dad gutting a Deer once in his shead , next door neighbour thought it was a dead body hangin in our shead, she asked my dad loads of questions about it. :- "

i do agree with most of you , i really think educating the younger ones is the right way of life, my dad is the same and hasnt time to do this any more. and i would love my child to be shown this too . well done and keep it up

thanks lads and lasses

we shall be going out again when there isnt a moon.so brace yourself for the next haul of rabbits lol

good hunting
