LEROY AND GEORGE
Meet Leroy and George! They are two 4 year old ex-racing greyhound boys who were going to be put to sleep as they had reached the end of their racing life. Luckily they were intercepted by one of our volunteers and are now ready and waiting for their retirement home.
Leroy and George are two lovely big boys who have matching white coats with black spots. They have a bit of kennel coat at the moment but this will soon be replaced with a lovely soft coat now that they are on a good quality food.
These two laddies have a lovely temperament and are in general very content with the simple things in life. They really love human company and are quite laid back, tending to take everything in their stride. Leroy and George also enjoy their walks but are well behaved and mannerly on the lead and rarely pull. They do not need a huge amount of exercise and are be content with two 30min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch their legs offlead in a safe area once or twice a week.
Leroy and George been very good with the other greyhounds in our kennels, and haven’t caused any hassle. They have not been tested yet with smaller dogs but this can be carried out prior to adoption if required. Often ex-racing greyhounds need a bit of socialisation with smaller dog breeds as they would never have seen them before, and at the start may not realise they are dogs! They are not cat friendly.
Sadly Leroy and George have not yet been in a home environment, so new owners will need to be a bit understanding and patient at the start, allowing them time to learn the house rules. It generally takes greyhounds 10-14 days to start to settle in a home, and really all they need is time and patience. These two boys are certain to really relish their home comforts and potential owners best have a large enough sofa for the two leggie potatoes!
Leroy and George are currently being kennelled in Ireland, and can be transported via Kerry Greyhounds to the UK or Europe if a suitable home offer comes up. This will be organised and paid for by Kerry Greyhounds, and we ask only for a donation to help cover costs. Please note that adopters will need to travel to our nearest collection point to pick them up. They are neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.
If you are interested in fostering or adopting these two lovely boys, please email me on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our adoption application form and information pack. Thanks!
