Mabli had her first injection at the vets last Monday night - she was very good and didn't even flinch when my vet gave it to her but I noticed a large lump on her shoulder tonight roughly at the injection site - it's hard but not hot and it's not hurting her and it has definitely only increased in size in the last 24 hrs - she is acting completely normal and eating and she's very active. i don't think there was anything out of the ordinary with the injection and it was done by my vet who has been my vet for the last 34 years and who I trust implicitly. I am going to ring the vet in the morning and take her up just in case - does anyone have any ideas or any similar experience of anything like this?

i had an iggie x whippy with exactly the same and on a tiny pup a swelling the size of half a ping pong ball is huge!!! it did finally go down after her looking like a hunchback and the swelling was hard? it was a reaction and did require draining but no ill effects now at all will attempt to post tomorrow as will have to download it to photobucket but it was HUGE!! im sure your vet will reassure you

Its quite common for pups to get lumps after injections and some adult dogs get them too.

They should go down after about 48 hours but if your worried or it starts to hurt or bother your pup then speak to your vet.

A couple of my lot, when they were pups will their first booster came up in a lump and when down a couple of days after.

Billy had his first one yesterday,no lump, but the vet made him bleed slightly :( ,never had a vet do that before.
