Late last year my whippet Badger had seven fairly large lumps removed.

Six turned out to be just fatty lumps and one small benign tumour.

He has several new lumps including one walnut(in its shell )size lump at the base of his sternum. He will be having this lump removed as soon as the weather warms up so he can recover in sunshine.

I just wondered how many other people have lumpy whippets because Woody my other dog has around five smallish lumps too.

They are both ten years old this summer.

My old Kit's got one too, i kept putting it off but i can't any longer. She's nearly 13

hi there in wouldnt take any chances and get them checked out as my last whippet took them when she was 9 and she then ended up with liver probs. :luck: she had a nasty smell about her though, hope they turn out too be nothing.

Woody was at the vets last week for his booster and the vet said his are just fatty lumps and unless they get huge or sore to leave them.

Badgers chest lump is right at the base of his sternum and when he lies down it touches the floor and the vet said it may take longer to heal due to where it is.

I don't want him to have surgery while the weather is cold as we do not have central heating and i know he is a happier boy in the summer.

I was just curious about lumpy whippets as my guys aren't fat but have fatty lumps

My Mayzee( nearly 14 years old ) has had a fatty lump for about 6 years now , the vet has a look everytime she goes for her check up ( shes on Vivitonin so has to go every 3 months ) Its got no bigger so i leave well alone , she did however have mammory tumours( benign :- " ) removed when she was 8 .

Whippets Rule , I have a `Woody ` , have had a` Badger` and look whats at the end of my page

Josh had one fatty lump removed on one side when he was 8 or 9 and then he had another one develop on the other side. It got quite big but was still soft and moveable so the vets decided not to remove it but just to keep an eye on it. As it happened Josh sadly died from kidney failure not long afterwards. :(

Yeah I noticed the whippets rule ok :)

In my house whippets definitely rule, even my beagle knows that.

Ok what's so funny about not having central heating then? (w00t)

This house is bloody freezing and i don't want my boy having surgery this time of year and having to shiver after in a cold house.

It's somehow warmer in the ruddy garden shed
