:( Our lurcher Jet (Saluki/Greyhound X Whippet/Bedlington) was out lamping last night. When we got him home it looks like he's broken his back inside toe. It's swollen up and his pad is sticking out to the side.

I don't fancy taking him to the vets as they charge a fortune and last time he knocked a toe they advised amputation!!! We rested him up for 3 or 4 weeks and he was fine in the end.

So, I'd rather not go to the vets!! Any ideas? He's not in too much pain but he's not very happy. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks, Clare

From what you say it does sound like he may have broken it.

For any injury like that you realy need to take him to the vets to get an accurate diagnosis, it is then up to you what caurse of treatment you take, it may just need strapping up but you realy do need to have it checked out.

Maybe try a different vet, preferably a greyhound vet, one who knows about running dogs!
