Rathbeggan Lakes set in the gently sloping valley of the River Tolka, this beautiful springfed Stillwater complex could be miles from anywhere. Hard to believe its less than 10 minutes from Dublin’s busy M50, and just 3 miles outside the picturesque village of Dunshaughlin. This was the venue for the Charity Dog Show yesterday in aid of Templestreet Hospital for sick children Dublin. This show was run by our Southern K 9 and Hunting Life friends, sorry guys dont know your surnames, Timmy, Grahm and Paddy who attend all our dog shows, here in Northern Ireland, not only with their brilliant dogs, but with all their lovely families too. Many, many thanks for the lovely day guys.Well done to you all. So on this occasion it was nice to be able to give something back to them. The Ulster convoy started off from Mc Donalds in Newry at 10.00am led by our learnard leader Patsy Mc Coy, after we all had a very enjoyable breakfast.
Athough the attendance could of been bigger, The show started at 2.30pm. There was one heavy shower of rain, but the rain disappeared far beyond the clouds for the rest of the day, and the sun came out to play in abundance. At this stage I must congratulate the judges for the wonderful job they done yesterday. A Big congratulations to Simon Murphy and his beautiful Whippet Breeze for winning the Overall Show . Well done Simon. Ann Forsyth and Eamon Feeley also were deserved winners of the Whippet bitch class with their whippet Jade. Jade also won the Whippet Racing. Again well done Ann and Eamon. Darren Connolly also was a winner with his lurcher and also Ian who runs the Moira show ( Poachers Lad on k9) had a win with his Lurcher also. Sorry Ian, dont know your surname either. Have to get all your surnames for future reference. Kieran Young , Rab Greer, and Neill were also their, and winners to. We also had a win with our Whippet pup Goldie who got a 3rd in the Whippet Puppy class and of course our "Silver "who never lets us down. We have that many trophies and rosettes now for Silver , we will have to buy a shed to accomodate them. Mind you Goldie as pup is coming up quickly behind her.
Finally, I always keep the best to last. Rose Mc Coys, all 3 dogs won their heats in all 3 racing results, and Rose had all 3 dogs in the final of the racing. Diego, Zola and Paris. All 1st, 2nnd and 3rd. Unbeleivable, what an achievement Rose. A Big Congratulations Rose, definately a winner, always a winner.
Bluebell was out in her glory again yesterday capturing all our moments of glory. Sure what would we do without you Deidre. You are not only a good photographer, but also a great friend. We have had some craic at the shows this summer. Isent that what life is all about, going out and enjoying the hobbies we chose in lifeand the doggies we love, meeting all our wonderful K9 friends at the weekends and hard work and cares of the world during the week, but sure I love every moment of it. As I always say, Life is a one way street, enjoy it when you are going down it, for you have no chance of going back up. Our friend Bluebell will have some photographs up later on K9 and Hunting Life . I am sure she is like ourselves to day , very tired. See you all at the Northern Ireland Sporting Whippet Club Show this weekend 15th August, at Dunsilly , Co Antrim.
