Hi,Does anyone have any info about lure coarsing for lurchers. I have a deerhound lurcher of 18 months old and I think he would benefit from the stimulation of coarsing but I am not interesting in him killing anything small and furry as I have a cat. Any info about events in the South West of England would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi, welcome to K9 :D

There are alot of lurcher shows and coursing events in the South West which start from March onwards - the first one being near Shepton Mallet in Somerset.

If you keep an eye on the Lurcher section and the Working and Lure Coursing section on here you will see information about the events posted.

You can also find adverts for events in the Countryman's Weekly, available from your newsagent every Wednesday

Thanks for the quick reply and the welcome. I have never been on a forum before. I shall look out for the event info from March. It'll be great to meet other lurcher/sighthound owners as I am the only one I know! I am potty about my deerhound lurcher and it will be good to meet other enthusiasts. Thanks again.

Whereabouts in the West Country are you?

There are vast amounts of us lurcher folk lurking around

I'm in Exeter. Dont see many dogs like my Murphy around. I did try to adopt a greyhound but they couldnt find me a cat friendly one. But I'm delighted with the lurcher. Great temperament. Lovely choice as it happens.

hiya looking forward to meeting you during the summer at a show lol my lot love racing/coursing

Ideal place to be! Right in the middle of all the lurcher events with easy access to the M5 if you want to go further up the line

Looking forward to seeing you and Murphy at the shows!! :D .............. are you on Facebook?
