LUTHER

Luther is a gorgeous greyhound lad who will be 5 years old this July. He has a lovely black coat with a white 'bib' that makes him look like he's dressed for the opera! He is 28 in. to the shoulder.

Luther is a new comer to our kennels and so we are still getting to know him. We will update with more information once his personality is assessed a bit more. So far he has been well behaved in the kennels and seems to be a bit of a loopy boy! His character is shining through more and more each day, and we feel he's going to make a smashing companion for whomever frees a space on their sofa for him. He is a bubbly, happy-go-lucky dog and enjoys being out and about, greeting people.

Luther is very well behaved with the other greyhounds in our kennels. He has had a preliminary cat test and passed it with flying colours, so he may be suitable to live in a home with cats. This will be tested more thoroughly, however, before we deem him as fully cat friendly, and as soon as a space frees up he will be moved to a foster home with cats to see how he gets on with sharing his home with felines.

Luther is currently in kennels in Ireland, and can be transported via Kerry Greyhounds to the UK or Europe if a suitable home offer comes up. This will be organised and paid for by Kerry Greyhounds, and we ask only for a donation to help cover costs. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure. This lovely lad will be a fun-loving addition to most households.

**UPDATE 06/2010**

Luther has been in kennels for some months now, and has settled in nicely to our routine. He looks forward to his daily walk and after the initial excitement wears off, he walks very nicely on the lead.

Luther is a big friendly boy who adores people and is very welcoming to everyone who visits his kennel, especially when its meal time! He is on the waiting list for a foster home with cats to see how he behaves when sharing his home with felines.

Like most greyhounds, Luther will not need a huge amount of exercise. He will be content with two 20min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch his legs offlead in a secure area once or twice a week.

In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs who are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also dont shed as much as other dog breeds such as retrievers or labradors, and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.

If you are interested in fostering or adopting Luther, please email me on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our information pack and adoption application form. Thanks!
