MAFFY
Maffy is a 2-3 year old ex-racing greyhound girl. She is a lightly built girl with a prettily marked black and white coat that will be gorgeous once she gains a bit of condition.
Maffy is a new girl to our kennels and is quite shell-shocked at the moment, unsure of her surroundings. Right now she is nervous if approached and doesn’t like loud noises or sudden movements, but this will improve once she learns how to trust people. She doesn’t seem to have been walked on a lead much before coming to us, and we are working on this daily to get her used to going out on walks.
So far Maffy has been well behaved with the other greyhounds and gets a bit of confidence from being part of a large group when on walks. She has not been tested with small dogs but this can be carried out prior to adoption if required. She is not cat friendly.
We are confident that with a bit of time and patient teaching this lady will; soon relax and start to look forward to a home of her own.
Maffy has not been in a home environment before, so new owners will need to be patient and understanding during the first couple of weeks and allow her time to settle in and adjust to the changes.
In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.
Maffy is currently being kennelled in Ireland, and can be transported via Kerry Greyhounds to the UK or Europe if a suitable home offer comes up. This will be organised and paid for by Kerry Greyhounds, and we ask only for a donation to help cover costs. Please note that adopters will need to travel to our nearest collection point to pick her up. She is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.
If you are interested in fostering or adopting Maffy, please email me on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our adoption application form and information pack. Thanks!
