Hi Members,

Anyone here know anything about Maltipoo.  In particular their coat types.  Main question - can a 12 week old puppy (mum a toy poodle and dad a maltese) have a coat that is not curly, but a little like a Yorkie?

Hope someone can advise.

Thanks

The problem with a cross is that the puppies could inherit the coat traits from either parent. There can even be variations between siblings within the litter. So it's very hard to say!

I was just about  to post the same thing :) If coat type is important to you a purebred dog would be a safer bet as you're more likely to get what you expect.

Hello Joanne and dogmatize,

Appreciate your replies.  I suppose I just wanted to know that the coat of a maltipoo does not have to be curly or straight.  As you have said being a mix this puppy is probably quite normal to have a yorkie looking coat.

Grateful thanks to you both

at just 12-WO / 3-mos, this pup won't shed their puppy-coat for about 3 more months; U'll get a much better idea of the texture of the adult coat by 7 to 8-MO.
;)

enjoy Ur new puppy,
- terry

Thanks leashedForLife,
