Change of Sponsorship:
Because we celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Ireland's longest running and most prestigious Terrier , Lurcher and Whippet Championships - THE ALL IRELAND TERRIER & LURCHER CHAMPIONSHIPS and our 50th Game Fair I have been able to persuade my fellow directors of the Great Game Fairs of Ireland to celebrate these milestones in Irish country sports history by taking on the sponsorship of the terrier, lurcher and whippet events under our own brand to demonstrate just how much we have put back into the sports. We will be making similar celebratory commitments to the clay shooting, angling and gundog competitions and virtually all facets of the fair to make this 50th Fair one of the best ever staged in Ireland .
Because of the launch of their new Gundog product range 'Engage' Red Mills were happy to step aside and to focus their sponsorship and advertising with us in the gundog area. We should like to thank Red Mills for their support in getting the Five Nations Terrier & Lurcher Championships 'off the ground' and their magnificent support for the Master McGrath Challenge. We trust that terrier, whippet and lurcher owners will recognise, as we do, the commitment that Red Mills have put into these competitions.
The 2012 Master Mc Grath Challenge ( Shanes 7th July ) and the Five Nations International Show Championships ( Birr 26th August) will be sponsored by Irish Countrysports and Country Life magazine supported by a number of other supporting sponsors. Top prize for the MasterMc Grath will be £500 , a Barbour Jacket and other prizes. Top Prize for the Five Nations is €500 , a Barbour Jacket and other prizes.
The 2012 Master Mc Grath Challenge to find the fastest Lurcher in the UK and Ireland over 150 yards will take place at Shanes Castle on the 7th July. This will be part of Ireland's top terrier , lurcher and whippet weekend with the 25th All Ireland Racing Championships over the longer distance of c 300 yards also taking place and the new Philip Lawtons Director's Novice Lurcher Challenge also taking place on the Saturday ( over 150 yards) and the All Ireland Show Championships taking place on Sunday 8th July. As this is the 25th anniversary of the All Ireland Championships and the 50th Game or country Fair I have organised, show classes will be split into dog and bitches and there will be the largest prize fund ever seen at any terrier, lurcher or whippet event in Ireland and some very good commemorative items which can be won at the event.
We have arranged very special ferry and accommodation rates so we trust that UK enthusiasts will try to qualify for the two international championships and also try to take the All Ireland Championship titles back to the UK. Any UK club wishing to acquire a qualifier please pm me or email me to irishgamefair@btinternet.com
