The first heats of the Master McGrath Challenge take place this weekend at the Ballywalter Game Fair on Sunday 1st May and also on the same day at the Rockview Show. Following weekend the qualifier takes place at Dessie Macken's show and the w/e after that at Neilston and Mourne Shows.

Apart from the other prizes offered at each show ( see Ballywalter Game Fair Terrier & Lurcher details at www.ballywaltergamefair.com) the Final winner ( at Shanes Castle ) will take away a package of prizes worth over €1500.

Photo of some of the prizes for each qualifiers is attached including Tankard , limited edition scroll and Master Mc Grath qualifiers caps; subscription to Irish Countrysports and Country Life and Game Fair tickets.

Also included is the cold cast Trophy that all class winners racing and show will receive at Ballywalter.

These trophies have all been chosen by me - NOT the organising club so criticism to me personally!

Albert a few questions you might be able to clear up Is there racing on and showing on Sat and Sunday or just Sunday Is there a seperate race for the master McGrath or is it the winner of the racing Is there one qualifer going through or is it the overs and unders going thrugh this weekend and is it the same every show that selects a qualifer and are they going to decide if it is an over dog or under dog will it be declared before the show date And we take it there will overs racing unders in the final

Whatshappin,

Racing and show at Ballywalter will ONLY take place on Sunday. Each qualifying show will decide how it selects two qualifiers. At Ballywalter it has been decided that the Over and Under winning dogs will be the qualifiers going through. The two dogs will then race for the top prize at Ballywalter though both will qualify for the final at Shanes Castle.

Other shows will have different rules and I know Mourne are holding a special heat over the 150 distance.

The reasoning behind this was that there was the widest possible chance to qualify for the final.
