MAYA
Maya is a 3 year old greyhound girl. She was surrendered in to our care as an unwanted pet, but we suspect that this isn’t the full story. She came to us in poor condition with a thick kennel coat that unfortunately indicates she was not kept in a home.
That was several months ago, however, and Maya is now a truly smashing girl. Her coat is in fantastic condition, sleek and satin soft, begging to be stroked. She also has the most amazing, liquid black eyes I’ve ever seen in a greyhound – they can almost see in to your soul!
Maya is beautiful in every way, its hard to find fault in her. Despite her rocky past, she has been a real little trooper, polite and friendly with everyone she has met. She tends to make friends wherever she goes. Her happy-go-lucky personality is very infections and you can’t help but smile along with her big grin. She is just begging to be loved and hugged and she is going to make an absolute perfect pet for someone.
Dear little Maya was homed a couple of weeks ago, but sadly her new owner quickly developed an allergy to her and with a heavy heart was forced to return her to us. We are really hoping this little dote can find her forever sofa soon so that she can truly settle and relax in her home.
Maya has been in a home environment for the past few months, and really does love her home comforts. She adores cuddling with you on the sofa, and she will sneak up on the bed too if she can! She was very quick to get the hang of the home life, and was part of the furniture from day one! She’s non-destructive in the home, completely housetrained, crate-trained and is ok to be left with other dogs for company. She has a passion for soft furnishings and likes to gather up all the cushions, throws and dog beds she can find, pile them all together and sleep in the middle!
Maya would suit a wide range of home types and would love a home with another dog, or two to keep her company and entertained when her humans are busy. She would also do well in a home with kids to teach her tricks and how to play fetch – Maya is a very bright girl who is eager to learn. She loves her food and especially likes to have gravy on her kibble. She is also getting very good at asking for more!
Maya adores other dogs of all shapes and sizes, and thrives in their company. It didn’t take her long to start playing with her new houndy friends when she first came to us, and she now likes mooching around with toys too. She is sharing her foster home with another greyhound and a Weimeraner x, both of whom she’s bonded to quickly and enjoys playing in the garden with them.
Recently Maya went to PetMania pet shop in Cork to help promote greyhounds as pets. She behaved fantastically with the crowds and critters of the pet shop and really enjoyed all the fuss and treats she got. She is a doll to walk on the lead and is a super sociable girl with everyone and everything… except cats! Her recall still needs a bit of work before she can be safely let offlead, but if there are tasty treats involved, she’s very quick to stick by your side!
In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly.
This gorgeous little girl is practically flawless and is just bursting with love for whoever gives her space on their sofa. She is guaranteed to be a fantastic family pet.
Maya is in foster care in Norfolk, England and can be homed anywhere in the UK provided potential adopters are willing to travel to meet and collect her. She is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.
If you are interested in adopting Maya, please email me on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our adoption application form and information pack. Emails are usually replied to within 24hrs. Thanks!
