  Here is handsome Jack, i met him at an agility show last weekend, he is a real gentle giant, and his fosterers have sent me the following details on him to hopefully tempt someone to give him the loving home he deserves... Go on i know you want to 8) (He seemed much larger in real life than he looks in these pics!!) Please call Donna Cain on 01434 381089 for more details.

History: Jack was found by police wandering in the Penrith area. He appears to have been called Jack and got very excited when several names were tried out including Jeep, Duke and Gyp. He is currently being fostered on behalf of Eden Valley Animal Rescue Charity (Cumbria).

Description: Rock solid temperament - a real gentle giant and has been okay with the sheep, ducks and geese on the farm. He is a non-barking dog, happy to sleep indoors/outdoors and travels well in the van. He has a very good on/off switch for play and rest. He is one of the most active lurchers I have ever known, particularly for a large dog - very bouncy and full of life. He stands c.26in. on the shoulder. He appears to have had some basic training. Like most hounds/lurchers, Jack needs a good short daily blast before having a long sleep. He appears happy to be left and so far has not chewed anything and has also been clean.

Re-homing Criteria: Jack would make either a good pet for someone or an agility dog who is big enough to clear two jumps in one stride.

Age: Around 16 months old

Sex: Dog

Neutered: Yes - 07/12/05

Microchipped: Unfortunately no

Vaccinated: Yes - 28/11/05 & 14/12/05

Flea sprayed & Wormed: Yes

Cost: Donation

Where dog can be seen: Alston, Cumbria.

Oh he is just gorgeous   hope he finds a lovely home very soon :luck:

I saw Jack at the same show last weekend and he is so gorgeous. If I had a bigger house (& no husband to say NO) I'd be sooooo tempted.

Now i'm lucky i'm soon to be moving to a larger house (i am currently living in a shoe box :b ) and i have no hubby to say NO but sadly i have a male who can be VERY dodgy with some males (some he loves but it's not many) and a bank account well in the red so sadly altho tempted i have to say no too to lovely Jack  Maybe in 6 months................. :- " :- "

Good news Jack has found a home in Derby, hope he does well

There have been 3 or 4 more Lurchers brought into the same rescue since Jack's been in need if anyone can offer a good home, please call above number for more details. There are also 2 old timers in need of a loving retirement they have been in the rescue for around a year already :( they are approx 8 years old, please consider giving them a 2nd chance ;) (no pics as of yet)
