My wife and I take our dog for his last walk between 8.30 and 9 PM every night, and exactly half way by an opening to the local collage side entrance we meet a Lab/doodle, the same spot, we are going to fool it this time, we are going to the rugby field for a change.

Do you meet the same dogs each walk?

Do you know the dogs name?

Do you know the owners name?

yes you meet same folk at times but i only let my dog interact when i know theres not guna be fights but mainly keep my dogs away for more than one reasons. do i know there names yes, buzz, floyd, jake, to name a few.

I guess I don't live in a very "doggy" neighbourhood, I've only seen maybe two others and not when we're out for walks

There's a sort of park near us - it used to be scrubland with birch trees, very old industrial site. Then the council popped some nice paths and some seating in it and a good fence round it. It's like a dog paradise. Most of the dogs are off the lead and people generally speak. When Sam raced off after a rabbit the other week and I spent 35mins searching for her (before heading home and discovering that she had been home for 20mins, grrr), several folk looked out for her and were pleased to see us the next day. Lots of folk also say 'was she being walked by your husband the other day?' - like they are placing her and I and checking that there is either not another similar looking whippet or some strange man taking my dog for a walk.

It's totally different from another local park with a good kids play park in it. We keep Sam on the lead near the play park (as far as she is concerned all children are her friend and she wants to play with all of them, either in or out of the play park) and then let her off down the far end where it's just grass and trees and mud for my 3yr old to jump and fall into, sigh. The dogs in there seem to have very standoffish owners - 1 lady was throwing a ball for her dog while it ran around with it's lead trailing (what's with that?) and when Sam ran towards it (the dog was not attached to the lady and Sam was just going in that direction, not very near), she looked daggers at me. I think it's because the one park is doing many things, whereas the 'dog friendly' park is perfect for folk who just want to let their dogs run around.

It's lovely how people with dogs all chat to us when we are out with Sam. It's like discovering a new side to our area.

My sister meets the same dogs every day - she knows all the dogs names but none of the owners names lol

Our main walk in the day is down a foot path behind a large school, nip under the underpass to a field were we meet the beagle club, must be about 8 of them, we have a natter then through the woods, there is a top and bottom path, we always meet other dogs as we go through over the bridge dog then on lead, cross a small road and we are home, just a large circle, takes about 3/4 of an hour.

If it is to wet we visit the rugby field.

Evenings over the bridge into the collage fields but there are gaps in the fence in to gardens, dodge at night.

We have found a new local walk near by just next to the pitch and put, hopefully may see my sister with her dog there one day, as she lives close by, we had a falling out some years ago but thats another story.

Most of them I know the owners to nod to but I know the dogs by name!
