My vet has suggested that i microchip my pup. Has anyone had it done? is it detrimental in any way?

One of ours is done and he's never had a problem with it. Obviously they can move but i can't see any other problems with them.

My friends Shnauzer went missing, was found & traced through her microchip within the day.

Cracked it, was microchipped few years ago and never had any problems with it, all my daughter's dogs are chipped and again no problems, thinks its a good thing,

All my 3 are chipped (2 whippets 1 mongrel) you can feel the chip under one of the whippets fur and you can move it around (he is very thin skinned and not very hairy lol) the other whippet you cannot tell where it is (but it is still there because i get them scanned at the rspca to check they are still ok. None of the dogs flinched when they had it done and i would rather my dogs be chipped than not.

Also my local vets tried to charge me £27.00 per dog for chipping wherehas the local rspca charged me £10 (but i did donate money to them as well as a good will gesture)

Oh...i cannot feel the chip at all on the hairy mongrel.

I think it's a good thing all my dogs and cats are microchipped :)

I got Megan chipped when she was in getting speyed

It is a good thing to get done and it's so cheap now to not like a few years back they use to charge the earth.

All mine have been done and the last 2 were done at a very early age think they were about 12 weeks old, cost me a tenner each at the RSPCA. And where i live now they do it for free if you live in the borough.

Never had any problems i can't even feel it in them

Clare.

all 12 of ours are done and non have had a problem most of them i can feel the chip if they put there heads down so i know there all still where they were put. just remeber if you move or change phone numbers to let them know or the chips no good if they carnt fined you

My 3 are all done but I waited until they were being anaesthetised for other things as it is a rather large and brutal needle! :(

it looks big but mine have maid more fus having busters then getting chiped only one of my ever winged its quiecker then a booster aswell more like having your ears pearced just a quick prik

My dogs & cats are all chipped, I'd definately get it done. I can feel the chip in my skinny lurcher & also in one of the cats. Most of them have been done while being neutered so they don't even feel it. It is rather a big needle
