Just to remind you lurcher lovers out there, Oscar is a Deerhound/Bed/Whip/Collie cross. Now stands at about 23", very keen, and eager to please.

Will be used for lamping rabbits, once the nights draw in.

   Thats a fine looking hound

I've just fainted. He's blinkin' gorgeous  I love his current gangly look - obviously he'll fill out, but do you reckon he'll get much taller, Mike?

Wow!! He was stunning as a tiny pup and ha ain't grown out of that!

HI Helen,

the dam was 23", sire 24" , Oscar has now matured albit slower than the Blues, which is normal for a larger breed. The bloodline all averaged around the 23" mark.

He,s eating a packet of tripe and dry food plan to bulk him up, every day.He seems to get stronger every week, in terms of stamina and pace.

So far he has been a pleasure to own, I can,t believe how placid and calm he is in the house and on the lead.During T&L shows , when in front of a judge he struts his stuff with a real cute canter, with his tail is up, loving every second.

I love to watch him "Course" Max or Blue, they are a real test for Oscar, but he is improving week by week, with very quick bursts of speed, rapid turning and then the strike across the back, all good practice for the quarry this winter. He will grab the Blues throat, must be instinct I reckon, all good play and fun.The odd yelp but then the rules are changed and Max or Blue will chase Oscar !! Great to watch.

Are you and Adrian considering a lurcher ? Go on I dare YOU !!

Mike

Looking good  Will be good to find out how he goes on, so keep us posted.

I still think Oscar is gorgeous. Did his brother find the right home in the end?

Cerito

Yes good result, the breeder kept the brother to Oscar. He,s a lovely looking dog, coloured fawn, has won alot at T&L shows.

Mike

ps I,ll try at get a picture of him, soon.

Should of named Oscar, Shadow, he,s always there following me around the house, stays really close, makes a first class companion.

Heard on the radio the other day, "Dogs won,t let you down, will always have a smile on their face, loyal to the end "

Really do love the fella, hope we have years of hunting trips in front of us.

Mike

Hi Mike. A bonny hound alright! Interesting what you say about your dogs 'coursing' eachother. It is great to watch and excellent practice for more serious business! My two 1/4 beddie cross litter sisters have definately developed outstanding speed and agility by running eachother ragged. They love to do this on all kinds of terrain from open moor to thick woods It's great to see them get more and more skillful as they mature! I always think that dodging trees, darting between tussocks etc will help to avoid injuries later on. They obviously do this when on their own, but it seems to add a spark to the whole thing if they have another fast hound to chase or be chased by. In fact I recently acquired a deerhound x through rescue and it's great to see the sisters give him a run for his money, in fact Skye the faster of the two often leaves him standing by a real blast of speed or some incredible 'jinking' about .Iv'e even seen her turn suddenly and jump clear over his back. She has no trouble catching him either and often brings him down none to gently either! which makes me laugh as she's half his size and built like a bird. Actually, I often think it's like fledgeling birds - they hone their innate flying skills by practice.

mike thats one fine looking dog m8 ..oh those lovely long legs ....
