Hi, I joined the forum yesterday. Didn't even know about it till then. My husband and I have kept rescue Rhodesian Ridgebacks for over 25 years. We took a friends male RR when he fell on hard times and we were hooked, we had settled on a breed. Or at least thats what we thought until we got our present boy Toby.

Rhodesian ridgebacks are known to be loyal, protective and a bit balshy .Toby was terrified of just about everything

The breeder had sold him to a single guy in the army who basically tortured him. When he was posted abroad he sold him to a couple who, though they tried to do the best for him, had no experience with dogs let alone a hound

We had just lost our 15 year old RR Max and contacted the Scottish RRR who put us in touch with Liam and Sarah. They were lovely but just couldn't cope so we brought Toby home. We soon realised we had our work cut out for us, never having had a nervous RR before, we got expert help and decided to get him a female companion. There were no female RR's at the time so we checked the SSPCA and found Millie. The SSPCA thought she was a lurcher, we just wanted a companion for Toby that could keep up with him out on our walks

Millie was skin and bone when we got her but a darn site better than the state she had been in when the SSPCA found her. They thought she was dead but the tough Millie didn't only survive she kept her 6 puppies alive too, and she turned out to be a saluki.

SHE WAS KILLED BY A 32 YEAR OLD SCUMBAG ON THE 8TH MARCH DRIVING AN ILLEGAL BIKE IN A PUBLIC PLAYING FIELD. Please go to 38 degrees website click on your campaign and type in Millies plea to read the whole story. Then hopefully sign and share. We have over 14000 online and several hundred written signatures. Don't let this happen to another dog.

Thank you

it happened a mile from me, so sad, its happens on a daily basis up here it drives me mad.
